What is the bay from the point of view of scientists and ordinary travelers?

Perhaps, to give an approximate answer to the question of what a bay is, every modern schoolboy can. It's quite simple.

However, this article will describe in more detail what this element of the earth's surface represents, and readers will learn about where the most beautiful and most unusual parts of the world ocean are on the map.

Section 1. What is the Gulf? The general definition of the concept

Under the bay should be understood part of the lake, the sea or the ocean, which goes into the land, but it does not lose water exchange with the main body of water.

From the scientific point of view, the bays are divided into:

  • Limans;
  • Bays;
  • Lagoons;
  • Fjords;
  • Harbor.

Usually by the state and chemical composition of the water, the bays do not differ from the main reservoir, so it is difficult for an unenlightened person to say what the bays are. But sometimes the climate and the characteristics of the continent can make their own specifics and uniqueness.

The largest (and, therefore, the most famous) bays are:

  • The Biscay;
  • Alaskan;
  • Great Australian;
  • Bengal;
  • Guinean.

Section 2. The most beautiful bays

According to travelers, almost all the territories of such a plan are very picturesque. There they like to relax both the locals and the numerous tourists. Unity with nature is especially important in today's rapidly changing world. However, there are places that can deliver a special aesthetic pleasure.

An example is the Table Bay (Table Bay) and Falls Bay (Falls of the Fall), which are located in southern Africa, just at the point where the Atlantic and Indian oceans connect.

The bays are the largest in this part of Africa. The first with a width of 10 kilometers is named after the Table Mountain, a business card of the city of Cape Town.

Those who love the sea surrounded by sushi, it is worth to visit the bay of Nha Trang, which is in Central Vietnam, namely in the province of Khanh Hoa, on the coast of the South China Sea. The total area of the bay is 507 kilometers - from Cape Dong Pa to Cape Cape.

Section 3. Where is the most unusual gulf of the planet?

The Elizabeth Bay (the Galapagos Islands) can be considered a spectacular place . Why? The fact is that, besides the fascinating landscapes, there is also a unique flora and fauna. Where else can you meet such untouched mangrove forests? In the wild, these plants, unfortunately, are rare. In order not to damage the grass cover, excursions are carried out by boat. Although even in case of emergency it is very, very difficult to land ashore in such a place.

What is the Gulf? Is it really just water, land and some, albeit rare enough, representatives of the flora? Of course not. For example, in the Elizabeth Bay still lives and a huge number of animals, the most unique of which, perhaps, is to consider the Galapagos penguins.
