What is epoxy paint and what are they used for?

The industry is currently developing at a rapid pace, requiring more and more different materials and substances.

As never before, various dyes are in demand, with the help of which the products acquire an aesthetically attractive appearance, as well as properties that help it to withstand the aggressive influences of the external environment.

Such substances include also epoxy paints.

What it is?

It is a thermosetting powder material that has been developed for a very long time, but is still widely used in industry. Note that these substances can form very high-quality coatings with high decorative properties, but most often they are used for painting various industrial and industrial devices and machines. Their composition is extremely diverse.

Advantages

Another advantage is the high functionality: depending on the type of resin or hardener used, epoxy paints can be used to create coatings with predetermined properties.

For example, if you choose the right composition, then such a dye is quite possible to use in the production of equipment for the food industry. Unfortunately, the wide spread of such funds is hampered by the fact that they have low resistance to atmospheric precipitation.

Areas of use

Most often they are painted with industrial equipment, protecting the latter from corrosion. In addition, these paints have high dielectric properties, and therefore are widely used in power engineering.

Thanks to the latter circumstance, epoxy paints have become an excellent alternative to many kinds of inconvenient insulators, so widespread in the industry: compounding, impregnation with varnishes with low conductivity and winding with insulating materials.

It is due to the availability of so many useful properties that are advantageously combined with their low cost, epoxy paints not only survived dozens of years of operation, but also virtually replaced many of the types of isolators traditionally used.

Properties

As we already said, these substances have a high resistance to various aggressive chemical environments.

Given that they perfectly withstand the impact of technical oils, alkalis, acids and petroleum products, they have become widely used in the oil industry for painting internal parts of pipelines. Only 500 μm of this synthetic material applied to the pipe wall completely isolate it from the action of aggressive media.

Among other things, the paint on the epoxy base is practically not burnt, and therefore it protects the electrical equipment well in case of severe overheating.

Applying such paints to the surface is extremely easy, since they have high adhesive properties. So, even sufficiently corroded and previously treated metals can be painted with them, without any preliminary preparation.

In addition, epoxy paint for tiles has recently become widespread, even in everyday life, because with its help it is possible to easily restore the old tile, completely covering all its shortcomings.
