What does feminine discharge mean?

Many naively believe that regular female discharge is a sign of any disruption in the sexual system. However, this is a normal state of the body, the same as, for example, salivation. But one should be able to distinguish natural vaginal discharge from pathological.

The fact is that their color, appearance and consistency speak about the state of women's health. They also have certain characteristics and can change during the menstrual cycle. So, in the first half of the woman's allocation is viscous and transparent, and in the second - milky and whitish. If everything is normal in the body, then they should not produce an unpleasant odor, cause burning and itching of the external genitalia.

The amount of secretions depends on the individual characteristics of the organism and can vary depending on the situation. This affects not only the phase of the menstrual cycle, but also the presence of pregnancy, stress, sexual arousal and other factors. The approximate rate of excretion per day is about 2-4 ml (the spot diameter on a daily pad can range from 1 to 5 cm).

The main function of women's discharge is physiological lubrication, as well as a means of protection from irritation and drying. The vagina regularly cleans itself, i.e. Eliminates pathogenic microorganisms that penetrated into its cavity. Normal woman does not practically feel, because some of their amount evaporates under the influence of body temperature, and the part is absorbed back.

It is also necessary to explain where this liquid comes from, which appears on the women's underwear. The fact is that these excretions consist of a complex of substances: the mucus of the cervical canal, the secretion of the vagina, its microflora and the dead cells of the vaginal epithelium. And it is the last element that "colors" them in white.

Meanwhile, changes in color and the nature of secretions indicate the presence of any pathologies or the development of diseases.

However, the woman herself can cause such violations. If it does not wash away with soap, irritation and reddening of the external genitalia occurs, because female discharge is saturated with the enzyme, which occurs as a result of the interaction of the fluid from the sebaceous glands and mucus that comes out of the cervix. That's why there is an unpleasant smell. It should also be remembered that during menses, increased hygiene of the genitals should be observed. The fact is that an unpleasant odor in this case arises much faster because of the evolving blood.

However, female discharge with odor may have a more unpleasant cause. They can be one of the signs of the development of diseases, which very often manifest themselves only in the form of a change in the nature of the secreted fluid: the color, the consistency, the itching and burning appear.

A woman should be especially attentive to herself during pregnancy. Allocations become more abundant, and this is considered the norm. However, during this period, women's diseases can also develop. Allocations may acquire a yellowish tinge with exacerbation of the inflammatory process or the ingress of any infection. And during pregnancy, the disease can take an insensibly long time. However, if there is blood on the linen or a brown viscous liquid, this can become a signal for the development of pathology. As a rule, in such a situation, you need to urgently consult a doctor. The woman immediately hospitalized and begin a comprehensive examination. As practice shows, the severity of the disease is not related to the intensity and amount of the released fluid: they can be scarce and barely noticeable even with a severe complication of pregnancy. Therefore, the doctor should not be put off: it can cause irreparable harm to a woman and her child.
