What are the signs of an allergy?

By allergies it is customary to understand the increased sensitivity or wrong reaction of the body to substances of a different nature, which in general should be safe for humans. In the 21st century, this disease has become quite widespread. According to statistics, approximately every third inhabitant of our planet is familiar with allergies. Most of them are children. Symptoms of allergy may manifest themselves in different ways. This is explained by the fact that various stimuli penetrate the human body in completely different ways. For example, volatile substances, such as pollen, dust, microbes and so on, get into the throat and nose. Through the skin, there are substances that can cause allergies, like cosmetic or detergents. Through the mouth and the digestive system, medications, certain liquids and food can penetrate and cause the reaction. Intravenous or subcutaneous allergens can come in the form of vaccines, drugs, poison from an insect bite.

Most often, allergy symptoms are observed from the gastrointestinal tract, skin and respiratory tract. The reaction can occur immediately, that is, almost immediately after contact with the stimulus, or after a few hours or days (slowed down). In this case, there is a statement that the reaction itself starts to develop immediately. Thus, a delayed reaction suggests that not only appear external signs of an allergy, but not the disease itself.

Immediate reactions can be expressed by bronchial asthma, dermatitis, urticaria, hay fever, rhinitis, serum sickness, anaphylactic shock, conjunctivitis, Quinck edema. In practice, not infrequently the signs of an allergy appear not one at a time, but several at once. So, for example, pollinosis often accompanies urticaria. Diathesis, sneezing and runny nose are the most common signs of allergy in children, which are also almost always found simultaneously. Among the especially dangerous reactions of the immediate type, there can be noted edema of the Quincke. In most cases, it occurs after a sting of a bee, wasp or some other insect. If the Quincke's edema affects the face, the occipital region and the neck area, the victim may experience a deadly suffocation.

Any of the immediate type reactions should be liquidated as soon as possible. As for Quincke's edema, the measures to eliminate it must be considered truly urgent. Of the number of delayed allergic manifestations, it is necessary to single out a group of cytotoxic reactions as a separate item. This kind of allergy is especially dangerous, because as a result of these reactions, blood cells begin to degrade, which in turn can lead to hemolytic anemia or leukopenia. Cytotoxic reactions are difficult to diagnose. This is explained by the fact that in most cases people do not compare the appearance on the body of new bruises and hemorrhages of the eye vessels with possible use of food or medicinal allergens.

Speaking about the various signs of the development of allergies, we can not help but dwell in more detail on the description of such a disease as bronchial asthma. This is a chronic disease of the respiratory tract, which is characterized by their increased irritability and sensitivity. Symptoms of bronchial asthma are expressed by attacks of suffocation, which are accompanied by a cough and loud rales. It should be mentioned that most often these are the signs of allergy to cats or other pets. Therefore, in order to prevent exacerbations of bronchial asthma, it is best to simply avoid contact with allergens.
