We grow aubergines: varieties and hybrids

Cultivation of aubergines is not as difficult as many people think. In addition, the fruit grown on its own will taste much better than the store, and a large assortment of varieties will make it possible to choose the most suitable for certain climatic conditions.

It should be noted that the aubergines, whose varieties differ in the form and taste of the fruit, require careful care. In its family, this vegetable is the most warm and light-loving, so it is preferable to plant early-ripening varieties, especially in the northern regions, so that in a short summer time the fruit can fill and mature. Seedlings require constant abundant watering, otherwise the plant will die. Varieties of aubergine differ in the time of ripening. It is worth noting that it is difficult to harvest seeds from ripe fruits, and it is recommended that the varieties be updated annually.

So, you can name the early varieties of eggplant, among which the most popular are Bibo F1, Clorinda, Premier.

Bibo F1 - a hybrid, giving a fairly rich harvest, resistant to various diseases. The fruits of this variety have a smooth, shiny surface of white color. The pulp is juicy and has no bitterness. For the preparation of various dishes from eggplant is the most preferred variety.

Fruits of Premier varieties have a lilac color and reach 400 grams. From the first shoots to maturity is about 3.5 months. This variety gives a high yield, it is recommended for cultivation in conditions of both open and closed ground. The taste of a mature fruit does not get bitter.

Clorinda is a relatively new hybrid that fructifies for a long time. Seeds in the ripe fruit are practically absent, the flesh is tender and juicy, it does not get dark when it is cleaned. This grade is recommended for northern regions, since it tolerates low temperatures well.

Such early varieties of eggplant are planted by seedlings in late April - early May, and fruits begin to start in early July. However, do not forget about the care of plants, including their protection from pests, as well as the timely harvesting. During the growing season the aubergines need additional nutrition, therefore periodically it is necessary to carry out additional fertilizing with mineral or organic fertilizers. It is not recommended to plant aubergines next to tomatoes or potatoes.

In order to have their own eggplants throughout the summer, the varieties should be taken different, from early to mid-ripening. The latter is preferable to plant in the southern regions. One of the most stable and well-fruitful, many gardeners consider Almaz. We can say that this is the first hybrid bred, the flesh of which has a white color and a minimum bitterness. Diamond aubergines are suitable for planting in both northern and southern regions. However, many prefer other varieties that are tied and ripe.

Among the relatively new mid-term hybrids can be identified frost. Shrubs of this variety give small (about 80 grams) fruits of white color. The flesh of such eggplants has a peculiar taste. It should be noted that this variety is distinguished by high yield per square meter. It requires timely harvesting, because the overripe fruit coarsens and begins to turn yellow.

In the south, the varieties and hybrids of the plant that have a light blue or purple color are most successful. In the northern regions it is preferable to plant aubergines, the varieties of which will be characterized by greater endurance, as well as early ripening, for example, Dnistrovets, Donetsk yield, Universal 6 and others.

If we talk about the benefits of plants, it has long been known that eggplants (varieties do not matter) contain a large number of useful elements that stimulate digestion and improve metabolism.
