Mixed feeding: advice to young mothers

Newborn babies receive all the necessary nutrients with the mother's milk - these crumbs do not need extra nutrition, vitamins and even water. But there are cases when the mother for reasons beyond her control can not breastfeed. A few centuries ago, the solution to the problem was one thing: to find a nursing woman who could feed her not only her child. Today, parents have the opportunity not to seek help from wet nurses: feeding the baby will help mixed feeding, which is carried out using adapted artificial mixtures for baby food.

How to combine the mixture and breast milk?

In young mothers, lack of milk is a widespread phenomenon. However, in this case, most often the problem is not the physiological inability of a woman to produce milk, but in an unfavorable external environment. Regardless of the age, weight, breast size, 97% of mothers are capable of breastfeeding. That is why it is important to throw aside all the ridiculous biases that do not have any scientific justification for the sagging breasts, the blurred figure and hormonal disorders, and try at all costs to keep the milk.

If, despite all attempts, milk is getting smaller every day, it's time to switch to mixed feeding, which means that the baby will get a supplement as a supplement, but most of his diet will continue to be occupied by breast milk.

If all the rules are followed, mixed breastfeeding does not lead to a complete rejection of the breast. Moreover, if you follow the advice of specialists, you can give up pre-breastfeeding soon, continuing to feed the crumb exclusively breastfeeding:

  • The adapted mixture should be given to the child from a spoon. If the parents decide to use the bottles, then the opening in the nipple should be very small;
  • Use of pacifiers should be limited as much as possible;
  • In night feeding the baby should receive only the breast.

When switching to mixed feeding, the infant should receive the mixture solely after the breast. In general, feeding a child to a year should ideally include at least 50% of breast milk.

Artificial feeding

The transition to breastfeeding occurs if the breast milk is completely lost. At the same time, mothers have additional hassles to buy and prepare adapted mixtures. What should parents know, who decided to transfer the crumb from breast milk to the mixture?

First of all, you should pay attention to the choice of a worthy product. This issue should be discussed with the pediatrician. Also, the child should receive a mixture that corresponds to his age.

It is important to remember that the composition of even the most qualitative mixture is not identical to breast milk, therefore, children-artificers should receive a lure, mashed potatoes, juices, porridges much earlier than babies. In addition, for the prevention of rickets in the diet of such babies it is advisable to introduce products that contain vitamin D and calcium.
