How to choose a variety of aubergines and get a rich harvest

A very large demand today is used eggplant (or blue, as they are called in the people). Since the beginning of spring, many gardeners buy different varieties of eggplants and plant them in their private plots. Today nobody is embarrassed by the fact that eggplants are pampered cultures and require great attention.
Few know that eggplants are unique vegetables, true enemies of our diseases. An ordinary summer dinner always includes blue in caviar, marinade, salad. They are wondering why everyone calls eggplant blue? After all, there are many varieties of eggplants with a different color: purple and pink, white and lilac and even striped.
Eggplant - the vegetable is pretty cranky. His cultivation is labor-intensive, but also the pleasure of it, that you have grown a wonderful harvest of these miracle vegetables, you get a lot. The main thing is to find the right sorts of aubergines. Having become acquainted with many varieties that are suitable for the middle belt of Russia and Ukraine, many gardeners and ogrodniks stop their attention in two strains that are resistant to different stresses and yielding: Premier and Clorinda, although there are many other varieties.
Choose a variety of aubergines
In addition to those types of eggplant, of which we have already spoken, I want to tell you about others, also very fruitful.

Pay attention to the following varieties of eggplant. First of all, Epic. This is a hybrid, very popular, because of this recently it is difficult to buy. Not a bad Italian sort of Rotunda. If you want the flesh of the eggplant not to be bitter and not dark, then you will like a variety with a slightly rounded fruit - Helios. Dishes cooked from this type of eggplant of this sort resemble to taste like mushrooms. A long period of fruiting has a variety of Clorinda with a white flesh and practically without seeds. Supernormal variety Bibo F1 is a disease-resistant hybrid. Premier is also an early-ripening variety, giving a lot of ovaries.
When to plant eggplants?
Eggplant is the most delicate vegetable culture. It is necessary to warm it for growing it. The main thing is that this heat was during the entire period of vegetation. For normal development of the plant, the temperature should be about 22-24 ° C. If the air temperature rises above 28 ° C, the ovary or flowers may fall out. Eggplant can not tolerate shading, and it should also be taken into account when selecting a place for beds, where the seeds or seedlings of this wonderful vegetable will be planted. The plant grows well with the light duration of the day from twelve to fourteen hours. Therefore, do not plant high plants next to the eggplant : sunflower, corn. They will cast a shadow on the heat-loving plant, and it will grow poorly. Eggplants will also grow poorly on dense soils. The growth of a plant usually slows down or stops altogether with insufficient intake of air and moisture to the roots.
Crop the eggplant: seeds or seedlings?
It is better to grow aubergine in a seedling manner, like other heat-loving plants. This will accelerate the onset of fruit and increase yield.
Seeds of aubergines are best sown in pre-prepared cups in the first decade of February. Why in plastic or other cups? Because during the transplant into the soil the plant does not take root. The eggplant reacts quickly to a careless attitude towards her person.
Seedlings are planted in the soil when the soil is heated to 15-16 ° C. More often it happens in the third decade of May. If the temperature is below 15 ° C, the plants do not take root. The preferred row spacing is 60-80 centimeters, the distance between eggplants is 50-60 centimeters. Before planting the seedlings, water wells are watered abundantly. Taking out neatly the seedlings from the cups, without destroying the woven roots of the plant, we plant and also gently fall asleep on the ground. Then water again and mulch dry ground.
Caring for plants during the growing season is not difficult. It is enough to loosen regularly the ground, weed out weeds, feed plants, protect against pests and diseases. The soil of the rows should be treated after a sprinkling or rain with a trowel or other device. Especially be careful with watering during fruiting, as the plant does not tolerate dryness, and the quality of the fruit can deteriorate because of this.
Choosing a variety of aubergines, decide quickly with the place of its planting. After all, soon it is necessary to plant and seedlings, and weed and water. But already in 120-130 days after planting seedlings, you will prepare for your family delicious dishes from these juicy and tender vegetables.
