Its main components are the ignition distributor and the ignition coil. Their condition should be carefully monitored. First of all, it is worth looking at if there are any damages and cracks on them. Here, special attention should be given to such details as the cover of the ignition distributor. If there are cracks on it, then it must be changed immediately, since breakdowns "on the mass" are formed, which means that the ignition is interrupted.

The ignition distributor has in its composition a contact node, or a Hall sensor, both serve as a current interrupter, which goes to the primary winding of the ignition coil. At the moment of opening contacts, the current flow stops, and in the secondary winding of the ignition coil an induction current is generated, which has a voltage of up to 20 kV. The fact is that its frequency is small, so high voltage wires do not melt. Then, through the central high-voltage wire, the current is fed to the ignition distributor, and then, by means of a slider, it is distributed along the cylinders, more precisely, by candles screwed into the head.

This design has been widely used due to its comparative reliability, simplicity and durability. Naturally, in many brands and models there are some differences, but they are not fundamental.

Of course, there are times when you need to repair the ignition system. Before doing this, it is necessary to disconnect the battery, since the closure in the ignition system is particularly painful for the electronics of the car. If the engine does not start at all, it is necessary to first determine the nature of the malfunction. The ignition coil is checked using a conventional tester. Also it is worth making sure that there are no short circuits to the ground, especially the wire coming from one of the ignition coil pins to the ignition distributor. If all the details are correct, then if necessary, you need to make sure the switch is working. It rarely fails, but this happens and happens due to a short circuit. Before you replace it, you need to check the chain for a similar object.

Well, if after that the car continues to abut, then it is worthwhile to look under the cover of the ignition distributor. If there is a contact node, then you need to check the gap, and also inspect for the presence of shells. If it does not, the fault may be one: the resistor on the runner has blown. You just need to replace it. Many people change it with a piece of wire, which should not be done at all.

In conclusion, it should be said that maintenance of the ignition system is reduced to the timely replacement of spark plugs, and also to watch that the high-voltage wires are not damaged. If you follow these simple rules, then the candles will have a stable spark, which, as they say, "the elephant will kill."
