M400 (cement): characteristics, application, price

Cement is an astringent inorganic substance in the form of a dry powder, which forms a plastic solution when interacting with water, which after a while passes into a solid state as a result of the physicochemical process. This material is able to solidify and maintain its strength in both water and air.

Cement brand m400

M400 - cement made from gypsum, fine clinker milling and specialized additives. The figure 400 indicates that after solidification the mixture is able to withstand loads up to 400 kg / cm.

This construction material is manufactured in accordance with technical standards, and the quality of the finished product is strictly controlled, as the concrete structures, which include cement, should have high levels of stability and reliability.

Characteristic

M400 - cement, which has high strength, frost resistance, water resistance, durability and anti-corrosion properties. This is perhaps the most popular brand for household and industrial construction. It can be used as an astringent basis in mortar or concrete, and also used in the construction of reinforced concrete structures, since strength is quite suitable for such buildings. This material was deservedly recognized by European and Russian builders.

Advantages and disadvantages

M400 - cement, endowed with a number of advantages:

  • The presence of high strength characteristics.
  • Resistance to moisture, temperature changes and corrosive wear.
  • Long service life of reinforced concrete structures.
  • The ability to use in any climatic zones, without introducing anti-freeze additives. So, M400 - cement, which is able to perfectly tolerate even critical temperatures.
  • Wide range of applications. Can be used for plastering and masonry, erecting foundations, etc.
  • Another important advantage is the absence of cracks even in the event of a deviation from the technology.
  • In addition, the M400 is much cheaper than higher brands, which saves the budget.

The only drawback of the M400 is its strength. It is not suitable for building high-rise buildings. In all the rest, this brand of cement only wins.

Marking

Marking "M400" means that the strength of this material for compression is 400 kGs / cm². It also reflects the presence of plasticizers in the cement . The additives increase the anticorrosion characteristics and water resistance of the mixture, which allows it to be used for the production of high density concrete that can work under conditions of corrosive environment or humidity. The percentage of additives can reach up to 20%. This designation is applied to bags after the letter "D".

Application

As a rule, the features and the number of additives directly affect the area of application of cement. For example:

  • D0 is Portland cement without additives. It has a general construction purpose and is used to prepare a standard mortar. Of such cement, most of the concrete structures used in high humidity conditions are made.
  • D5 - is used for the production of high density bearing elements, for example, foundation blocks, slabs. Such cement is distinguished by its corrosion resistance and greater hydrophobicity.
  • D20-applied in the manufacture of reinforced concrete products (curbs, blocks of prefabricated foundations, paving slabs). This Portland cement is characterized by a fast set of strength at the beginning of hardening. Concrete, made on the basis of D20, grasps after 12 hours.

Cement M400 (50 kg): price

The price of the material described can not be called high, and it depends on the type, type, properties and volume of the ordered lot. To find out the cost of a bag of cement M400, you need to divide the price of 1 ton by the number of bags per 1 ton, that is, by 40.

Each consumer, of course, is interested in acquiring materials at a more favorable price - cheaper. So what influences the price in our case? Let's see:

  1. The presence of mineral additives significantly reduces the cost of Portland cement, since its percentage in the mixture fluctuates. Thus, cement M400 with a high percentage of slag content will be cheaper than without additives.
  2. Plasticizers, on the contrary, increase its price.
  3. Another factor is the fineness of the grind: the better the clinker granules are crushed, the activity of the mixture is higher, and accordingly, the higher the cost.
  4. The cost of kg of cement M400 necessarily affects the manufacturer. Since they are all located in different parts of the country, the transport costs for them are also different.
  5. Also, the price is influenced by packaging, because selling this material in bulk or packaged in bags of 25 kg or 50 kg is a completely different thing, since the cost of the bags themselves, the cost of packing, etc., will be taken into account.

Cement M400 (bag) on average costs 190-225 rubles.

Recommendations before purchase

Buying the described material, it is best to choose Portland cement, which is packaged. Despite the fact that the difference in price will be about 20%, you will be assured of its "age" and quality. The fact is that the shelf life of cement is small - only 6 months, and eventually it gradually begins to lose its qualities, and the brand goes down.

The date of production of the prepacked material is applied directly to the bag. When buying the same by weight you will have to believe the seller on the floor. Also, storage conditions are important, since when moisture enters the cement, an irreversible hydration process begins in it. To protect moisture from sealed bags is much easier than a mound poured. Use old, caked cement is economically unprofitable.
