Elena Baturina: biography, activities, family

Of course, the figure of Elena Baturina occupied, will and will occupy one of the key positions on the Olympus of Russian entrepreneurship. The wife of the former mayor of the capital is considered the richest woman not only in our country, but also abroad. In 2010, Elena Nikolaevna had financial assets, the amount of which was estimated at $ 2.9 billion.

Of course, without certain business qualities, she would not have been able to "knock together" such a huge fortune. And they have it: stiffness, assertiveness, purposefulness, coldness ... In many respects due to these qualities she succeeded in business. However, not everyone agrees that luck in business affairs would always accompany Baturina, if she were not married to an influential official.

Did Elena Nikolaevna achieve little, if only for the help of her husband, who held a high post in the capital's government? Let's consider this issue in more detail.

Biographical information

Baturina Elena Nikolaevna is a native of the city of Moscow. She was born on March 8, 1963 in a family of workers. Father and mother worked from morning till night in the factory to feed a large family. Baturina, in addition to her brother Victor, has cousins and cousins. Elena Nikolaevna once said in an interview that she actively involves her relatives in the conduct of joint business, because they completely trust them.

As a child, the future wife of the capital's mayor was often ill: the lungs were weak. Nevertheless, this did not prevent the girl, who grew up in the proletarian district of Vykhino, to develop such a key quality for the businessman as a commitment.

Start of work

After receiving the certificate of maturity, Baturina becomes a working factory "Fraser", because she did not enter the university.

After a while Elena Nikolaevna becomes a student of the evening department of the Institute of Management named after Ordzhonikidze. In parallel, she works at the Institute for Economic Problems of Comprehensive Development of the National Economy of Moscow.

Fateful meeting

Baturina Elena Nikolaevna in her youth joined the working group of the commission of the Moscow City Executive Committee for individual labor and cooperative activities. In a new capacity, she began to study the problems of the public catering system. Then she received her first experience of cooperative activities. At this time, there is a fateful meeting with Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov, who headed the commission in the executive committee. After a while, Yuri Mikhailovich becomes a widower, and Elena Nikolaevna marries him. It was not a service romance: the relationship arose at a time when they were no longer working together.

Start of business

Elena Nikolaevna, whose biography contains a lot of interesting and remarkable, in the early 90's makes its first steps in the entrepreneurial field.

Together with her brother Victor, she creates an Inteko co-operative. As a profile of activity, the manufacture of polymer products was chosen. The political career of her husband Baturina developed rapidly, and soon he took up the post of the mayor of Moscow. Naturally, Yuri Mikhailovich helped in every way to develop his wife's business, providing Inteco with profitable municipal orders. Over time, the company of Elena Nikolaevna turned into a major supplier of plastics and organized a powerful production area on the basis of the Moscow oil refinery. A polypropylene manufacturing enterprise was built, and very soon Inteko won the third part of the entire plastic product market.

Business is booming

In the late 90's, the geography of entrepreneurial activities of the spouse of the Moscow mayor significantly expanded. For example, Inteko became the main developer of the City of Chess (City Chess) project in Kalmykia. It was Baturina with her child who became a suspect in the investigation of the misuse of budget funds in the construction of the above object. Nevertheless, Elena Nikolaevna, photo of which in connection with the incident, printed on the front pages of the regional media, decided to participate in the Kalmykia parliamentary elections, but won no victory in them.

Baturina is focusing efforts on business. Very soon Inteko turns into a large investment and construction holding company, which has occupied almost 25% of the panel housing market. The company establishes a unit of monolithic construction.

In 2002 Elena Nikolaevna (the post-president of Inteko) buys several large cement plants. After some time, the owner of the construction holding company announced the issue of a bond issue. Most of the shares of Inteko belonged to Baturina (99%) and only 1% of securities owned by her brother Victor. Later, Luzhkov's wife announces the creation of his own real estate structure called the Magistrate.

Scandals of an illegal shade

At the beginning of the zero construction holding Baturina is in the center of scandals. In particular, the sharks of the pen in 2003 informed the public about the illegal activities of the subsidiary company of Elena Nikolaevna (Inteko-agro), which bought up agricultural lands in the Belgorod Region under "gray schemes".

Then the "daughter" of "Inteko" invaded the commercial interests of the son of Viktor Chernomyrdin, preventing the development of the Yakovlevsky mine. A wide public response was caused by such events as an attack on the executive director and the murder of the lawyer of the corporation Inteko.

Even more excited Russians about the theft in the Bank of Moscow. Journalists could not but leave this fact without attention. According to the employees of the newspaper, Elena Nikolaevna (Ekaterinburg, the newspaper Vechernye Vedomosti) was questioned as a witness in the case of fraud in a banking institution. In this case, the lawyer Asnisa had written evidence of her non-involvement in the commission of the crime.

Change of priorities in business

In 2005 Baturin sells cement plants and temporarily leaves the market of panel construction. But after a while, Inteko again returns to its profile, buying in the Kuban Verkhnebakansky cement plant.

Then Elena Nikolaevna reported that her brother "departs" and no longer owns the holding company. Luzhkov's wife decides to buy back shares from him and become the sole owner of Inteko. However, Viktor Baturin considered this situation unfair and wanted to regain some of the shares. As a result, there was a lawsuit, which eventually ended with the reconciliation of the parties.

After Yuri Luzhkov was removed from the post of the mayor of Moscow, Elena Nikolaevna began to sell off its business assets. In autumn 2011, the commercial structure of Inteko was put up for sale.

Hotel business

Since the end of his political career, Luzhkov Baturin lives with his spouse abroad. However, "in a foreign land" Elena Nikolaevna did not lose her entrepreneurial grasp and invested in the hotel business. In Kitzbühel (Austria) she bought the Grand Tirolia hotel for almost 40 million euros. Every year there is an award ceremony for the best journalists covering the sporting life. Baturina also owns the hotel Morrison in Ireland and the mini-hotel Quisisana Palace in the Czech Republic.

The hotel management of Elena Nikolaevna is managed by Martinez Hotels & Resorts, which is located in Austria. The hotel owner plans to expand the geography of its business, which already invested about three hundred million dollars.

Personal life

Yuri Luzhkov's wife always tried to stay in the shadow of her influential patron. She reluctantly took part in solemn events, which were regularly arranged in the metropolitan metropolis. Sometimes there was a feeling that Elena Nikolaevna, whose personal life was the best, completely avoids publicity. The business lady also ignored the official receptions that the mayors of other cities arranged.

Her sphere of interest outside the business includes golfing, horse riding, skiing, reading.

In a marriage with Luzhkov she gave birth to two daughters - Elena and Olga. They study in England. Relations with his brother Victor leave much to be desired, as the litigation initiated by her relative in 2007 is still fresh in memory.

After Yuri Mikhailovich was released from his post, the couple Luzhkov moved to the British capital. The ex-mayor expressed hope that the family will someday be able to return to Russia, when the authorities will change their anger to mercy.
