Before the official opening of the water attraction Verruckt, the employees of the water park carefully checked it. As an object that descended on this hill, a bag of sand was chosen, the weight of which corresponded to the average weight of a person. Unfortunately, the first test failed. The climb to the second hill proved to be very dangerous, and the bag easily flew out of the chute.

Urgently, the construction in this place was redistributed, and a special safety net along the entire length of the attraction was added.

A terrible incident happened on August 7, 2016, when a boy at the age of 10 decided to experience a lot of new sensations, descending from the main attraction of the water park. When a special boat, on which the descent of visitors from the hill takes place, came to the end of the road, the child was already dead.

After finding out all the circumstances of the case, it turned out that the boy's death was due to a neck injury. At the same time with the child in the boat were two unfamiliar women. They escaped with minor injuries of the face and were taken to the hospital.

It remains unclear how such a small child could climb onto the water attraction Verruckt. After all, according to the rules, persons under 14 years of age are not admitted to it. Immediately after the tragedy, it was even reported that the child was not 10, but 12 years old. However, the Kansas State Congressman Scott Schwab and his wife gave an official statement about the death of their 10-year-old son Caleb Thomas on this extreme hill.

Closure of the Verruckt slide

Immediately after the tragedy, the management of the park Schlitterbahn decided to temporarily suspend the operation of a water attraction called Verruckt.

In November 2016 it became known that the administration of the water park decided to finally close the world's highest water attraction. According to the representatives of the park, this is the only thing they can do after such a tragic event. It was also announced that the hill Verruckt will be completely demolished, and in its place in the future will be built something different.

At the moment on the official site of the water park Schlitterbahn, among all water activities there is not even a mention of this extreme attraction.
