Video surveillance system with their own hands: profitable or not?

Video surveillance is becoming ever more firmly in our lives. This is explained simply. First, the installation and maintenance of such a system is much cheaper than the maintenance of "live" protection.

Secondly, properly installed video surveillance allows you to see at any time what your family or employees are doing.

Finally, the record stored on the hard drive helps not only to identify the offender, but is also considered good evidence in court.

However, the installation of video surveillance is a costly business. Therefore, more and more experts are asked the question of whether it is possible to mount video surveillance at home with their own hands?

The answer is ambiguous. On the one hand, anyone who can work with his hands can install cameras and connect them with the right wires. On the other hand, high-quality video surveillance can be provided only by a person who is well versed in the features of cameras, the properties of wires, the technical characteristics of monitors, video recorders and other devices involved in this process. Therefore, a video surveillance system, installed by hand in the house, often breaks down or simply does not give a high-quality picture. Therefore, the cost of self-purchase and installation of cameras often become unprofitable.

If you still decide to build and install video surveillance systems with your own hands, you will have to take into account many important points.

First you need to determine the scale. It's no secret that any equipment has a limit of action. If the video surveillance system is installed on a small territory with your own hands, then, perhaps, the criterion "price-quality" will be decisive. But in this case it is also important to determine what exactly is required from a particular system. After all, you can simply view the image in real time, and you can write it to your hard drive. Modern 3G-cameras generally allow you to watch what is happening in the house on your mobile phone from anywhere in the world.

As soon as the question of which video surveillance system will be installed in the house with their own hands is thought out, it is necessary to decide which complex of works will have to be performed. And again everything depends on the purpose with which video surveillance is put. You can connect the camera, drive and computer wires. It's cheaper, but most likely you'll have to chisel the walls. You can install wireless cameras. It's easier, but more expensive. At the same stage, it will be necessary to decide whether a drive is needed, how much information it can hold, how many cameras it is best to install, what kind and diameter of wires to choose. Of course, if we are talking about installing a single camera, nothing is complicated. But one camera is not a video surveillance system. With your own hands, only a specialist can assemble it.

Once the number of works and the quality of the components are determined, you can calculate the cost. This is also not easy. The Russian market is supplied with cameras and components of different price categories. But not always a high price is an indicator of excellent quality. A common mistake: many are trying to save by buying the cheapest cameras or not paying attention to their permissions. As a result, the picture turns out to be blurry, it's impossible to distinguish faces and machine numbers on it. Sometimes, having bought excellent cameras, self-taught installers do not take into account the diameter of the wires, and even a powerful signal is lost on the road half, does not reach all devices.

And still need to consider whether to wall and how to do it, how to properly install cameras, so that there are no "dead zones", and hundreds of other, even more specific issues.

Therefore, to mount video surveillance independently is beneficial, if there are 1-2 cameras in the system. In other cases, it is better to invite professionals. Remember the proverb about the stingy?
