Luzhkov Bridge (Moscow)

Luzhkov Bridge, although small, but it already "grows" seven trees of love.

Located between Bolotnaya and Kadashevskaya embankments, it is called by native Muscovites in different ways: some are called Tretyakovsky, lovers affectionately call it "the bridge of kisses". The newlyweds must come here before the wedding in order to lock the castle on the "tree of happiness" and wish their future family great, unquenchable love and a happy life.

Previously, such locks were hung on the railing of the parapet, and the keys were thrown into the Moscow River, but in 2007 the authorities of the capital, who had previously tried to fight this custom, gave up and decided to arrange the Luzhkov Bridge a little. So they installed trees on it for such wedding rituals: first one, and then another six. And today the number of these branched copper "trees" has reached seven. There is a belief: those who have not yet found their mate, their mate, should just tie a ribbon on them and make a wish. And very soon they will meet their great love.

Luzhkov Bridge is relatively new, since it was built in 1994. It is unclear what prompted the Moscow government to undertake such construction, especially since there was no special need for it: there are several more nearby, including through the Vodootvodny Canal. Nevertheless, this bridge in Moscow has appeared and now enjoys great popularity among the population and tourists. Here, at its base there is a semicircular bench of the original design, intended for those lovers who quarreled with each other. It is almost impossible to sit far apart from each other: the highlight of the design is that sooner or later all those who have sat down on it roll down to its center and find themselves side by side.

Many townspeople do not know about the existence of this bench, because it is on the opposite side of the most crowded parking lot of limousines marrying, but those who sat on it for a minute, certainly feel the unity.

Many ask the question, where did this strange name come from - the Luzhkov Bridge. According to one version, this name comes from Tsaritsyn meadow or meadow - one of the old names of the area where the Swamp area is today, attracting many creative natures.

Further along the embankment there is the eponymous berth - "Luzhkov Bridge", which serves only special "undersized" motor ships, easily passing under the passages of the Vodootvodny Canal. And nearby is a very cozy park, where you can spend time waiting for the ship.

Both the Marsh Quay and the Luzhkov Bridge are very picturesque places. Here, very often tourists hold a photo session against the backdrop of panoramic views of Moscow and the river. And in the warm months near the pier in the park on the square and on the channel are included beautiful fountains.

They say that newly married newlyweds are very scrupulous and with great faith they relate to all sorts of beliefs, customs and signs, because they are just standing on the threshold of their new life. And therefore it is very symbolic that they chose the Luzhkov Bridge so much in the hope that their "happiness trees" will protect their happiness.
