Vaginal Suppositories 'Neo-Pentotran'

The drug "Neo-Penotran" has antifungal, antibacterial, as well as antiprotozoal effect. It is used for diseases such as bacterial vaginitis, which is caused by anaerobic bacteria, vaginal candidiasis and trichomonas vaginitis. It is known to prescribe medication for mixed vaginal infections.
Neo-Piotrana contains miconazole and metronidazole. Miconazole has a fairly wide range of effects and effectively fights against fungal activity. "Neo-Pentotran" is usually prescribed to inject deep into the vagina before going to bed for seven days. In case of relapse, it may be recommended to extend the treatment to 14 days. Introduce the drug into the vagina in the supine position with the help of special disposable fingertips, which can be found in the package.
When taking the drug, there may be some side effects, such as abdominal pain, headache, rashes on the skin, vaginal itching, vaginal irritation and burning sensation. In rare cases, leukopenia, convulsions, ataxia, constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite, a feeling of dryness in the oral cavity, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, a taste of metal in the mouth, and cramps in the abdomen can occur . This side effect arises in extremely rare cases, since the level of metronidazole in the blood with intravaginal application is low enough.
In no case should not take "Neo-Pentotran" in the first trimester of pregnancy. Also, the drug is not prescribed to patients suffering from porphyria, epilepsy, patients with severe impairment of liver function and having increased sensitivity to the components of the drug. After the first trimester of pregnancy, the drug may be used only under the constant supervision of a qualified specialist and only in such cases where the potential benefit to the mother far exceeds the possible risk to the child. At the time of taking suppositories, it is recommended to stop breastfeeding, as the active substance penetrates into the mother's milk. You can continue to feed one day after the end of treatment.


With renal failure, the dose of metronidazole should be reduced. Do not prescribe medication for children under 12 years. Also, do not prescribe suppositories to virgins. During the treatment it is forbidden to take alcohol, in addition, one should not take drinks containing alcohol even 1-2 days after cessation of treatment. With prolonged use of the drug, peripheral neuropathy can be observed.
When an overdose of "Neo-Pentotran" can occur, diarrhea, itching, nausea, dry mouth, severe headache, convulsions, darkening of urine. Often in patients, the question arises whether it is possible to take "Neo-Pentotran" with menstruation. There are different opinions on this matter. Most doctors do not recommend taking Neo-Penotran and Neo-Penotran forte at monthly intervals. For the period of menstruation, the drug must be discontinued and resumed only after they have finished. Care must be taken when using the drug simultaneously with condoms, since the suppository base can damage the rubber. Taking medication does not affect the ability to drive cars and work with various mechanisms.
The drug is dispensed solely on prescription. It is stored at a temperature of not more than 25 degrees. Do not store in the refrigerator.
