Updated GAZ 31105

The passenger car of domestic production GAZ-31105 is serially produced at the Gorky Automobile Plant since 2004. In 2009, management decided to stop issuing this model as obsolete. In fact, it was a restyled model of the GAZ 3110. Despite the withdrawal from production, it is still possible to buy a new "Volga" and now - it is only necessary to place an order in the factory workshop of GAZ. For the entire period of its existence the model 31105 has successfully proved itself as a reliable and cheap in service car of a representative class.

What changes were made to the technical characteristics of the engines?

Unlike its predecessors, the new GAZ 31105 car has a huge line of engines. Since 2004, 3 new types of engines have been installed on the novelty. It was a carburetor unit ZMZ 4062 with a working volume of 2.3 liters, an injector ZMZ model 4021 with a volume of 2.5 liters, and a 2.4-liter turbocharged diesel version of the GAZ-560 brand. Two years later a number of engines replenished with a new copy - the American unit of the brand "Chrysler" with a volume of 2.4 liters and a capacity of 137 horsepower.

Also, significant changes have affected the transmission. The novelty was fitted with a manual gearbox for 5 speeds. During its development, many changes were made, contributing to the longevity and reliability of the mechanism. Thus, engineers significantly increased the maximum speed to 175 kilometers per hour. "Hundred" machine takes just 11 seconds (with its weight almost 2 tons). These were excellent indicators for the domestic car.

Suspension of the new GAZ 31105

Gorkovskaya "Volga" had an independent suspension, which from its predecessors was distinguished by simplicity and cheapness in service. High-quality ball bearings now do not need periodic lubrication, and if necessary they can easily be replaced. And, of course, like all the "Volga" series, the novelty had a soft and smooth move (this is the main feature of the car).

New improvements

Gradually, during the production, the novelty was subjected to various changes. They often dealt with the technical part. In 2007, the Gorky plant presented an updated version of the model 31105, in which significant changes were made to interior design. During the development of the new salon, famous German designers were involved. As a result, the salon of the renovated "Volga" has become more cozy, stylish and ergonomic. Among the innovations is to cancel the informative dashboard, a new lighting system, improved upholstery of doors and ceiling. It is also worth noting the functional steering wheel, in which for the first time in the history of the domestic automotive industry, the buttons for controlling the radio tape recorder were mounted.

A year later, in 2008, a modernized ZMZ 405-25 engine with a capacity of 124 horsepower and a working capacity of 2.5 liters was installed on the Volga. This engine met all the standards and requirements of the ecological standard EURO 3. This was a real breakthrough in the history of the domestic automotive industry.
