Tubeless Tires Or Chamber Wheels - What's Better?

Any motorist encounters when changing skates with the problem of choice - roofing to put tubeless tires, roofing felts to collect wheels with cameras. The appeal for help and advice to friends and comrades to car owners, as a rule, does not give an unambiguous answer, and even real professionals can not unite unequivocally in opinions.

So you have to choose the type of wheel assembly at random. And to make it easier to determine the choice, it is worth considering the positive and negative aspects of tubeless and chamber wheel assembly.

Tubeless tires

At its core, tubeless and chamber tires for today are no different, more precisely, all tires are produced from the calculation of a tubeless installation. And the very concept of a tubeless wheel means absence inside the chamber, air in the wheel is held only by tight fitting of the tire on the rim and a special nipple with a spool (air valve) installed in the rim.

What are the advantages of tubeless tires, that they are so much praised:

  • The absence of the camera facilitates the wheel, which has a positive effect on its balance and reduces the load on the suspension during high-speed driving.
  • A tire without a camera can withstand less load, and therefore behaves milder on uneven sections of the road, i.е. Reduces vibration and noise.
  • Tubeless tires are easier to cool, which does not lead to overheating at high speeds during long trips.
  • The tire can maintain working pressure with several nails or self-tapping screws, provided they are securely fixed in the tread. And such punctures can be glued on the way without even removing the wheels.

At first glance, there are quite enough positive features of tubeless tires that they "fall in love". But we should also consider the negative side, which adds a large "spoonful of tar in a barrel of honey."

  • The tubeless tire successfully holds air only under condition of hermetic connection with a disk, therefore even at the slightest depressurization it is necessary to send a wheel on HUNDRED. A violation of landing tires on the disk may be caused by a banal blow when entering a pit or when crossing difficult areas: dirt, sand, snow.
  • Side cuts or breakdowns in large numbers (from 5 pieces) are not allowed, because Do not give an opportunity to reliably seal the tire. In this case, only new skates with a high tread really tightly glued.
  • The depressurization of the tubeless wheel in most cases occurs with a sudden loss of pressure in the form of cotton, which leads to a quick descent of the wheel and the problem of keeping the car on the road (you can not cope with the control) especially at high speeds.
  • Self-perebortirovanie tubeless wheel is almost impossible because of the use of specialized materials and equipment. In addition, the quality of the disk seat must meet the requirements, and therefore not every disk can be installed on the tubeless wheel.

Chamber Wheels

If the tubeless tires are so good, then why are still so often used chamber wheels. The best aspects of chamber assembly:

  • Assembling the wheels on the chambers allows you to slightly relieve the tire from the effort, which means that the wheel is not produced so intensively and is capable of withstanding a heavy load.
  • The tightness of the connection between the tire and the disc does not matter, so even slight movement of the tire relative to the disc is allowed. At the same time, the number of previous punctures is absolutely irrelevant, and small lateral cuts are completely repairable.
  • The chamber tire withstands large radial loads and is able to work in any difficult terrain, and storage of such deflated wheels is not so critical as for tubeless ones.
  • Repair of ramps on the road is a perfectly acceptable thing, you can either glue the camera or just replace it. And when a puncture sharp drop of pressure is a rarity, basically the pressure loss in the wheel is more gradual, which makes it possible to notice the breakdown and stop in time.

Than so do not like the camera tires fans of tubeless wheels:

  • In the breakdown of the wheel, it is necessary to have it borted, which is burdensome, not so fast and requires special skills and tools.
  • The camera adds weight to the wheel, which is more problematic when balancing, and there are additional loads on the suspension at speeds greater than 140 km / h.
  • The chamber wheel is more rigid in use, which, with its low load or high air pressure, leads to unnecessary vibration.

That's what the car owner needs to choose between soft tubeless rooms, abruptly descending, and stiff chambers that are easily repaired. In the end, it turns out that tubeless tires are very practical, but do not withstand the large "torture", besides, it's no accident that professionals-locksmiths mount wheels on the chambers.
