Tips from a speech therapist: how to pronounce the letter "p"?

Proper diction and well-spoken speech in the future can open many doors for your child. This is especially important for those who are going to link their lives with professions that require constant communication with people or influence their lives with their texts. The same TV and radio announcers, actors, public figures, representatives of press services can not do their work in any way, having defects in diction. Therefore, one must take care of the child's speech from childhood.

How to pronounce the letter "p"? It is with this problem that they often come to the speech therapist. This sound is one of the most difficult for a child. Why do many children not know how to pronounce the letter "p"?

- The first reason for such a speech defect is a disorder associated with disorders of the cerebral cortex. Such injuries usually require treatment from several specialists.

- Another reason - the kid is embarrassed to learn to speak the letter "p" or is simply lazy, and therefore replaces it with other sounds, whose pronunciation he is better off.

- The reason why a child does not know how to pronounce the letter "p" may be a lack of phonetic hearing - he does not understand and does not perceive it when he hears words.

- The physical reasons for this defect include a short linguistic frenum, which prevents sound. In such cases, a trimming operation may be required, but afterwards the child will easily pronounce all the sounds.

- Children often imitate adults, so that if there is at least one carding person in the child's environment, it is likely that the kid simply imitates his speech, not understanding that it's wrong to say so.

- Well, the main reason why there is no capricious "p", is that this sound is not delivered to the child and is not brought to automaticity.

In the latter case, of course, a speech therapist will help. "P" is one of the most difficult to pronounce sounds. A speech specialist can choose a set of exercises for the child for training, but most likely, daily, he will not be able to deal with him personally. Therefore, parents who teach the baby how to pronounce the letter "p", you need to be patient and engage with the child on their own every day. Such exercises should last at least 10-15 minutes a day in order to fix the skill of pronouncing the letter and bring it to automaticity.

You can also use the lessons of the speech therapist: the letter "p" is obtained by pressing your finger against the sky and making the child pronounce the sound "ddddd" without closing the mouth. At the same time, the finger should be traversed. As a result of such fluctuations, the sound "rprrr" should gradually turn out.

If the baby's sound is already coming out, but very uncertain, then it's time to turn to tongue twisters. Together with the child, repeat every day exercises such as "Radish and turnip root strong", "Baker Peter peck pie". Well, if a kid just confuses "p" and "l" in colloquial speech, it will help to correct this feature by saying such tongue twisters: "Malina is not Marina", "King is an eagle, an eagle is a king" and the like, where these sounds alternate.
