Time-lapse photography

Many people are interested in different types of photography. Then every master faces a choice problem, so you need to know about each of them as much as possible. Consider one of them. Time-lapse photography is a photo and video of various processes that take place very slowly. Such phenomena can be classified as classical variants of a blooming flower, a child's growth, building a building, and phenomena that carry a more exotic character - melting snow, moving the sun, and so on. The purpose of such a shooting is to fit a few hours or days, and sometimes even in a small movie, lasting five to ten minutes. It is very interesting for many to observe the change in some phenomenon in short periods of time.

Time-lapse photography: basic concepts

The time-lapse is interval shooting. It takes one shot in a few minutes or hours, and then they combine into a video sequence.

Post - process of processing in the program of video editing or a light-light.

Flicker is a flicker of brightness from one frame to another. It is the most common mistake.

Time-lapse photography: the principle of implementation

First, you need to set the lens to manual focus mode. If you do not, then on wide-angle lenses, focusing can work on different objects, and even with a single focal length, the geometry of the frame will vary from picture to picture. To avoid the appearance of excess glare, you need to wear a lens hood. You must turn off image stabilizers. The camera needs to be switched to Manual Mode. The white balance should be set to MANUAL mode, and during the time-lapse recording it should not be touched.

If you shoot in RAW, then you can set the white balance in the light-tree or another editor, first processing the first frame, and then applying this setting to other frames. It will take more time, but the result will be much better. Therefore, it is worth shooting in RAW. When working with one of the new Canon cameras, you can set the mode to sRAW (half resolution), since even FullHD-Video can be shot in five megapixels. However, at a higher resolution, you can have more processing possibilities. RAW provides the ability to correct exposure errors, remove noise and change colors. Sorting on the post will be greatly simplified if you create a new folder on the camera during the time-lapse capture of each new time-sheet.

Now we can say about the diaphragm. It can not close twice in a row to the same position, so the video will necessarily appear flicker. There are two ways to solve the problem. The first solution is to use fully manual lenses. On Canon cameras, you can set the desired aperture, and then press the depth of field test button , turn the lens to hold it. In this case, the diaphragm will be in the set position.

The time-lapse photography in motion should be performed with certain parameters of the ratio of exposure to the interval, which should be at the level of two to one, that is, if the shutter speed is selected at a mark of two seconds, then there must be exactly four seconds between shutter releases. This is not a strict requirement, but it is necessary to strive for this. The average interval between frames should be set to a mark in four seconds, but in windy weather it's more correct to set it to one or two. ISO is set to no more than 3200.

Everyone knows that at a high temperature, the cameras are "noisy" much more, that's why it is worth covering the device from the sun with a cap or T-shirt, which will save it from overheating. But make sure that the shelter is not in sight of the lens. A tripod should be used as sturdy and stable as possible. To save energy, it is more appropriate to turn off the view after shooting.

As you can see, the time-lapse photography is a very laborious and difficult work, but its result is simply amazing.
