Ussuri River in the Far East

The Ussuri tributary on the right joins Amur. The border between Russia and China passes exactly along the line of this river. Until the beginning of the seventies of the last millennium, this water artery was named after Jannutthaus in its section, going to Arkhipovka, which is in Chuguevsky district.

The next part of the river between the village and the Upper Brevka of the same district was called Sandagogue. The third section, which was heading to Daubich, was called Ulaha. It was at this point in its path that the river became a full bearer of the Ussuri name.

Geographical position

Ussuri - the river flowing through the Chuguevsky district in the Primorsky Territory. Its length is 897 km, the area of the basin is 193 thousand square kilometers. It begins its journey from the Olginsky district, from the most mountainous massifs of the Sikhote-Alin. The Ussuri River, which is born from the belly of the Snezhnaya Mountain, flows smoothly. There are only a couple of mountain spurs in the middle of the route. Thus, it is surrounded by banks, covered with cliffs and rocks. Some segments are convolutions and sleeves. The Ussuri River contains a small island group in the waters of its riverbed. This is a very picturesque place.

Ussuri flows into Kazakevichev's channel. It is located in the Khabarovsk region. It has a little water and a bottom close to the surface. It is the right-bank channel of the Amur. This is the beginning of a new current that flows into the water artery itself alongside the Amur cliff that is in the center of the city of Khabarovsk. With the help of the Sungachi Ussuri (the river) flows into Lake Khanka at an altitude of 69 meters. The largest of the local islands is the one named after Kutuzov.

Hydrological environment

From the rain clouds, the volume of the Ussuri River is replenished. Khabarovsk, mainly due to precipitation, receives recharge for one of its most important arteries. Also melted snow melts in those periods when winter turns out to be especially harsh and snowy. This is a third of the water volume. The rest of the small fraction is replenished by the abundant flow of groundwater.

The time of flood begins in the spring and summer periods. At first it's all the same melted snow and torrential rains, and then - floods. The upper reaches through it 140 cubic meters per second, as to the average current, there this figure is close to 225 m3 / s. If we proceed 150 km opposite the mouth, we will notice a water flow of 1200 m³ / s. The culmination and the most turbulent currents boil in the middle - 10250 m³ / s. The lower reaches are characterized by a figure of 10,500 m³ / s.

Not so simple this river: sometimes you can not avoid a catastrophic spill. November brings its cold breath and turns a babbling beauty to the ice, and only under the tender touches of the April sun, it again starts to run fervently in its channel.

Water supply is the goal for which the resources of the river are used. There are regular flights with a length of 600 km: starting from the mouth, reaching the road bridge, the ships lose the ability to move. At this point, the right and left sides of Lesozavodsk are connected.

There is great potential for the development of shipping, which has not been paid attention to before. Nearby is Zhaohe and the highway between Khabarovsk and Vladivostok. This factor explains such delay, together with the fact that the banks are strewn with poorly populated villages close to the border. Bikinsky settlement is well-known for the point of intersection of the line operating between the Pokrovka and Manukov.

Incidents in the course of history

Particular for the development of the river was the 17th century. It was marked by the fact that European travelers went on a hike, heading to the sources of the reservoir. Supervised expedition Onufriy Stepanov - Siberian Cossack and the famous explorer of the Amur River. Closer to our time, in the seventies of the last century, these lands shuddered from the skirmish at the border, which occurred on the island territory. The Chinese state "clashed" with the USSR. It was thanks to this incident that the island became popularly known. In the spring of 1991, the Chinese government won and appropriated this territory.
