Tilda Elias: Patterns, Step-by-Step Instructions and Recommendations

Funny and cute tilde dolls were invented by a Norwegian designer named Tony Finanger. For several years they became popular all over the world, and long-legged rag dolls had friends - rabbits, bears and even moose. Now you can sew such a cute moose in the style of tilde dolls.

How to sew a tilde-moose

Pattern - that's the main thing in creating an elk based on the tilde. You can use the ready-made, suggested by the designer in your magazines, or draw it yourself. The main rule and distinction of elk tild from all the others are long elbows and a head, and also the presence of only the eyes on the muzzle.

By the way, this is the main highlight of all tildes - despite the fact that there are only eyes on their faces, their images are very expressive, and each tilde is not like the other. The main meaning is the costume, so the tilde-moose can be dressed up in pants and a knitted sweater or in shorts and a shirt, or you can make it a New Year's and make a Santa suit for it - everything is limited only by your imagination.

What will you need?

To create a toy you will need the following materials:

  • Fabric for the body beige, light gray or light brown, however, your tilde-moose can be any other color or even sewn from a fabric with a fine print. For the body, dense cotton, linen or coarse calico is best suited, but it is possible to sew both from thin felt and from fleece. By the way, for horns it is better to take another cloth, for example dark brown, but you can make them in the tone of the whole toy.
  • Cloth for clothes - you can take everything you like - cotton, corduroy, jeans, knitwear, linen, batist or you can even associate the outfit in which your tilde-elk will be wearing.
  • Pattern.
  • Material for stuffing the body, the easiest way is to find a sintepon.
  • Threads in the tone of the fabric.
  • A wooden stick.
  • You may also need a tracing paper (it will be replaced by any other paper for patterning), a felt-tip pen or chalk for cutting, zigzag scissors (or conventional ones), a sewing machine or sewing needles, pins.

Los tilde: a master class on creating toys

First, draw, translate or print a pattern of your future moose. Do not make the details too small - the smaller the toy, the more difficult it will be to twist the long and thin arms, legs and neck.

Gently cut out all the pieces of the pattern, fold the fabric for the body in half from the inside out and pin the paper details to the fabric. Translate all parts, note that you should get:

  • 3 details of the head (1 muzzle and 2 side rear parts);
  • 4 parts for the ears;
  • 8 parts for hands and feet;
  • 2 details of the trunk;
  • 2 details of horns.

Circle each piece on the underside of the fabric and cut, leaving 1 cm on each side for allowances.

It's time to take up the needle

So, all the details are cut, it's time to sew them. You can sew like a typewriter with an ordinary straight stitch, or manually sew a needle forward with a stitch. If the toy is small, then it is better to sew it by hand, since the accuracy of the execution of all the curvatures and details of the pattern depends on the appearance of your toy.

While sewing parts, do not forget to leave uninsulated holes for turning and stuffing the toy. On the pattern these places are indicated by a dashed line. When you sew the elk's body, notice that the neck needs to be sewn and the bottom left open.

Pay special attention to the head. First, sew the back parts together, leaving an unclosed hole on top. Then sew the details of the ears, attach them to the front of the head, by placing it down and inside. So, after turning out the ears will be symmetrically located on the head. Then collect the entire head, stitching it around the circumference.

Picking up a toy

To start, turn all the parts to the front. To gently twist the thin and long parts of the arms and legs, as well as the neck, use a thin wooden stick, for example for sushi or skewers for shish kebab. The pencil in this case will be too thick, and the spoke is too thin and can puncture the fabric.

All parts after unrolling iron iron and proceed to the packing. Do not rush and stuff the details of the head, horns and body tightly, without spaces and so that the toy is flat, without waves and bumps. In order for your tilde-loso to hold his head well on a long thin neck, apply one trick - apply a small piece of wood stick with PVA glue and wrap it with sintepon. Insert it into the neck from the inside and then fill the body tightly.

Do not beat your feet just to the knee so tightly, so that your tilde-elk can sit. After tying your feet to the knee, stitch them in this place with a straight line to give your legs the ability to bend at the knee. Hands fill completely, but not too tightly, so that they lie along the body, and do not crumple at the sides.

After packing, sew open holes on the head, horns and hands with neat stitches over the edge. Open the cut on the body, wrap it inside, put your legs into it and stitch it. Hands first pin to the trunk with pins, and only after making sure of their symmetry, sew to the body. To the head, sew the horns behind the ears, and the head to the neck. It remains to make a couple of stitches at the ends of the hands to make it look like a hoof, and your doll is tilde-moose ready. It's time to give her personality.

Adding Details

To your toy found a character, she will need a face and a suit or a pair of accessories. Start with a muzzle. As we have already noted, the tildes and their friends on the face have only eyes. Traditionally, they perform in the technique of the French knot, but you can draw them with a felt-tip pen or sew beads. Mark and nostrils with a pair of stitches, where the patterns suggest it. New Year's moose-tilde can be decorated and blush. It is usually made with dry pastel or usual rouge and a dry brush.

To dress up a toy, use everything that is at hand. From trimmings fabric sew simple shorts and sew them straight to the trunk. Seam the back of the sweater, which is easy to put on top, and if you do not know how to knit, sew a sweater from any jersey. The jacket is sewn as simply as the trousers. By approximate measures of the moose, draw out on the paper the outlines of a sweatshirt with a one-piece sleeve (the letter T).

Fold the fabric in half and attach the pattern to the edge of the fold, so you'll cut out the whole piece of gear and back. In the middle, make a round hole for the gate and stitch the side seams and sleeves - a simple blouse is ready.

The image can be complemented with scarves and hats, felt boots , bags and bouquets of flowers in the paws, in general, anything that fantasy tells you.
