Hamed "Prince" Nasim: ups and downs

Since the advent of boxing as a sport, there have been many fighters who were able to shock the audience and fight in the ring in a very frank stand, constantly annoying the opponent with their tricks. But even in this cohort there are people who can be considered the most extravagant and in a good sense "frost-bitten". One of these boxers at one time was Hamed "Prince" Naseem.

Birth and start of boxing

The future eminent athlete was born on February 12, 1974 in the city of Sheffield (Great Britain). His family was mixed: in his family there are both Englishmen and representatives of Yemen. In the boxing section, Hamed "Prince" Nasim first appeared at the age of six, where he was able to progress rapidly due to excellent physical data. Already at 18, the Briton was in the professional league.

Way to the top

Only three years of performances on the profiling was necessary for the athlete to win his first WBO world title in a featherweight category. The belt he took from Steve Robinson, and more vividly and more than convincingly, winning by knockout. After that, Hamed "Prince" Nasim conducts four fights, in which he successfully defends his title from the encroachment of competitors and goes on a unification match against the American Tom Johnson. In this confrontation the British shows himself the best, and in his hands there are already two titles: WBO and IBF. Unfortunately, the policy of the International Boxing Federation was such that the British was eventually deprived of the title. But this did not disappoint the champion, because he signed a contract with the famous American television channel HBO.

Showman

Hamed "Prince" Nasim began to flirt with the public from the very beginning of the speeches at a high level. However, at first people perceived him as a sick and mentally unstable person. This contributed to his antics, by which he managed to excel. So, his smile annoyed many. I did not like his way of looking contemptuously and condescendingly at rivals. But in the end it became clear that this behavior was part of the plan that the Briton implemented to bring his opponents out of balance. Over time, the audience fell in love with this charismatic fighter. And more than that, she began to forgive him for the twists and turns, because she loved bright boxing. "Prince" Nasim Hamed, whose biography is interesting to this day, always showed interesting fights and even more vivid exits to the ring. Everyone perfectly remembers his carpet-plane, the throne with lackeys, various somersaults and erotic dances - all this could not go unnoticed and bore fruit. Tickets for his fights were expensive, but people paid this money to enjoy a bright show.

Behavior in the ring

As the boxer "Prince" Naseem Hamed was famous for his non-standard technique. He was typical of the manner of boxing with his hands completely lowered and smiling sweetly to his opponent in the eyes. There was no aggression in him, but at the same time he fought hard enough. Sometimes he flirted, as, for example, in a fight with Kevin Kelly, when the Briton was knocked down in the first and second tri-minutes. But what in the end? And the final of that fight was an American knockout in the fourth round. And to whom, in that case, what is the matter with the behavior of the impudent and insolent representative of the Foggy Albion?

Fateful defeat

Boxing is boxing. Prince Nasim Hamed, whose best battles were broadcast around the world, unfortunately was unable to develop his natural gift, which resulted in his fall from the top.

April 7, 2001. Arena MGM Grand, Las Vegas, USA. Duel for the vacant IBO featherweight title. Boxer "Prince" Naseem Hamed meets in the ring with the most dangerous Marco Antonio Barrera, who for this fight specifically changed his manner of boxing, becoming more technical and concentrated.

The fight itself was more than tense. Mexican showed high-class boxing. "Prince" Naseem Hamed (the best fights, as it turned out, were left behind) was declassed and humiliated.

The Briton could not find the key to his rival. From anger and unfolding Hamed in the second round behaved unsporting, and it became clear to everyone that this is the end of the era of the great fighter. With each subsequent round, Barrera was getting more and more often. Hamed's head literally flew away from his fists, but there were no smiles on his lips at all. All this quite naturally led to a deserved victory on the points of the Mexican and a fatal defeat of Nasim, who so ineptly used his skills. By the way, many experts agree that the British stopped developing as a boxer and that's why his defeat was broken.

After this "public flogging" as the showman "Prince" ceased to exist. He spent one more fight with the little-known Spaniard Manuel Calvo and ended his career.

But life, as you know, is not just boxing. "Prince" Nasim Hamed (his biography is truly unique) by the will of fate and his slovenliness in May 2006 was imprisoned. All the fault was the dangerous driving of the car. But in September, he received early release.
