Seam "forward needle" in the embroidery. Embroidery "forward with a needle" with diagrams and photos

Embroidery is the oldest kind of needlework. The art of sewing with decorative stitches on a woven canvas is popular all over the world. There are many different techniques and types of seams.

Simple handmade seam for needlework

The main tools and materials for embroidery and sewing are needles and threads. Craftsmen use all kinds of techniques. Simple and universal are the seams, in which the movement of the needle is directed forward. They can be used to perform manual work when sewing clothes or soft toys, decorating finished products or as ancillary techniques.

How to make a seam "forward needle"?

It is not difficult to master the technique of performing ordinary stitches. At the beginning of the work, the thread is fixed on the right side of the fabric. The seam is made from the right to the left. When working, the needle always moves forward. Make consecutive stitches along the contour line. They should be the same in size and placed at regular intervals.

The length of the stitches and the distance between them can be different. Let's say that the stitch length is 5 mm. The gap between the stitches can be 2 mm or 5 mm. And the front and the underside are the same. As if the dotted line looks like a seam "forward needle". The diagram shows the sequence of its execution. Such a seam is called an offset. It is used for sewing to join individual parts after cutting. It also serves as the basis for performing other techniques of embroidery and sewing.

Connecting seam

Stronger stitching of the fabric can be done by making stitches in two steps. The seam "forward with a needle" is performed in the following sequence:

A) small stitches sew the first row;

B) turn the main tissue to one hundred and eighty degrees;

C) stitch the stitches in the spaces made in the first row.

The obtained joint weld ensures reliable fastening of individual parts. From the front and back sides looks the same. It is used for sewing soft toys and clothes.

Sealing or contour seam

Embroidering various schemes, it is often necessary to highlight the contours of the picture. At the beginning of the work, the selected sketch is stitched with simple stitches. After passing the entire contour, the needle is placed in the starting point. In the opposite direction, fill the remaining gaps with stitches. As a result, the contour of the pattern, intended for embroidery, is completely enclosed.

Single-line seams with coils

The stitch of simple stitches is easy to transform. By simple movements of the needle with the thread, a decorative seam is obtained. At the beginning of the needlework, a simple version of the stitches is performed. Next, we change the thread in the needle. The new thread can be the same as for simple stitches. If necessary, it can be any other color, and can also differ in thickness. Due to this combination, the embroidery will be slightly convex. To perform the "zigzag", through the embroidered stitches pass the second thread. To do this, from the top down the needle is carried out in sequence in the same direction. Passing through the stitches, the needle does not grasp the main fabric. The seam "forward needle" with the ligating - "zigzag" - is ready. A simple row of stitches turns into a beautiful and decorative. By changing the directions of the lobes, embroider different variations of the sutures.

A little change the movement of the needle with the thread and get a new version. The technique of performing this seam is similar to the "zigzag". Embroider one row with an offset seam "forward needle". The next step is to thread a thread of a different color into the needle. With cautious movements, without piercing the main fabric, let it through a row of stitches. In this case, the movements of the needles alternate. First, it passes from the top to the bottom, and then from the bottom to the top. The filament is laid on the sinusoid in the form of a wave.

The embroidery "forward with a needle", described above, can easily be transformed into a different kind of seam. In order for the "wave" to become a "chain", add one more row. It is carried out in the same way as in the previous case. But at the same time, the movement of the needle will be opposite, namely, first from the bottom up, and then from the top down. Obtain a two-sided sinusoid in the form of a "chain".

Slightly changing the direction of the lobes, we get a new version, called "ringlets". How to sew the seam "forward with a needle" with the "ring" ropes? Getting started is a series of simple stitches. Next, embark on the "rings". The string is fixed near the last stitch. They let him through. The needle and thread pass through the penultimate stitch from the bottom upwards and then through the last one from the top down. In the same way, all the threads are carried to the end of the stitch line.

A seam consisting of several rows of stitches

We have examined the transformation of one line of simple stitches into various types of decorative stitches. Multi-line seam "forward needle" is a parallel or alternating stitching stitches, which are performed in staggered order. The technique of execution is the same as in the single-line version.

Parallel seam "forward needle" is laid from left to right a simple row of stitches. The second line is embroidered parallel to the first. Identical stitches are located strictly under those that are located in the upper row. If necessary, the following lines of parallels are performed similarly.

The technique of performing loops on the basis of several stitches

Consider the double seam "tape". First, embroider two lines of simple stitches. A string of another color is performed by simple loops. The needle should not grasp the underlying tissue. The thread is passed through the stitches of the upper and lower stitch only once. Work starts from the bottom row. The thread is passed from top to bottom through the outer stitch. Then - from the bottom up, in the penultimate stitch of the bottom line. The needle is moved to the upper row. The thread is passed from the bottom up through the stitch of the upper line. Thus, the entire series passes, receiving a decorative "tape".

Changing the direction of the needle with the thread, you can embroider the double seam "forward with a needle" with the "eight". Begin with a few lines of simple stitches. After changing the thread, they begin to perform intercostal interventions. First, it is passed from top to bottom into the outer stitch of the second row and from the bottom upwards into the next row. Moves to the top row, moving backwards. In it, the movement of the needle ensures that the thread passes through a number of standing stitches. First in the first - move from the bottom up, in the second we go from top to bottom. The actions are repeated in the same sequence. As a result, the thread fits between the stitches in the form of a "figure eight".

What is an "undercurrent"?

The stitches made by the seam "forward with a needle" form a geometric pattern. This kind of embroidery is simple in execution. Perform embroidery with simple even stitches, without pulling the thread. It should be long enough. Geometric pattern is easier to perform on a fabric with a clear weave. Threads for embroidery must be thick and not twisted. They are selected in accordance with the fabric chosen for the job. They are mostly black, red, blue or white. Embroidery can be monochrome or multicolor. Used geometric patterns have a width of ten to fifteen centimeters. The pattern is embroidered by moving from one row to the next. As a pattern, you can use cross stitch patterns. In this case, instead of crosses, the drawings are made using a "forward needle" seam.

The photo shows samples of ornaments for this type of needlework. Beautifully look tablecloths and bed linen, decorated with bright ornaments. Quite often they can be found on paths and pillows. Embroidery (seam "forward needle"), made with this technique, is also perfect for decorating napkins and towels.

Sewing with beads

This type of embroidery is performed in various ways. For fastening beads use a seam "forward with a needle". Needlework is performed according to a pre-selected scheme. A needle with a strong thread or a thin line is placed on the obverse of the needlework. Puncture the fabric from the bottom up. String the first bead. The next stitch performs close to the beads. After fixing it on the fabric string the next bead. Again pierce the fabric from the bottom up. Fix the next bead. The operation is repeated. In this way, fix all the beads that make up a certain pattern.

Several techniques of embroidery ribbons

Skilled needlewomen use all kinds of materials in their work. For this needlework, various types of seams and receptions are used. When using ribbons, you get a beautiful three-dimensional embroidery. The seam "forward with a needle" is performed with loops. However, the second thread is replaced with a tape.

First, a simple row of stitches is performed. They should be wider than the ribbon used in this embroidery. To the right of the first stitch, fix the tape. Stitches are sewn by it in the same way that the strings were made with the usual thread. Embroidery is ready. At the end of the row, the tape is fixed.

In addition to the described technique, you can sew the embroidery with a ribbon. It is tucked into the needle. On the front of the work the first stitch is performed. Next, go to the wrong side. We perform the second stitch. The operation is repeated. We align the tape and make sure that it does not twist. The "forward needle" seam, made with ribbon, is used in embroidery to process the contours of the pattern, as well as for decorating various products.
