Thermoregulators for radiators - comfort and economy

To maintain a comfortable temperature in the room during the heating season, you can use thermostats. These are small devices that are built into the heating system immediately before the heating device. Thermostats for radiators consist of two parts: a thermostatic valve and a thermocouple.

Principle of operation

In the thermocouple, there is a cylinder filled with a substance that reacts to the temperature of the air in the room. When heated, the substance expands, presses against the walls of the cylinder (bellows). This motion is transmitted to the locking cone, which changes the flow rate of the coolant. When cooling down the process is reversed: the substance contracts, the pressure on the bellows decreases, it decreases in size. The spring-loaded cylinder is raised, increasing the amount of coolant supplied.

Thermoregulators for radiators: types and features

According to the type of working medium used, the thermostats for radiators are gas-filled and liquid. Gas-filled devices react more quickly to changes in air temperature, and liquid precisely regulate the amount of heat carrier. What type of preference - your personal choice.

There are thermostats for radiators by types of heating systems: single-tube and two-pipe. Devices for two-pipe systems are designed for large differential pressures due to the operation of such a system.

Thermoregulators for radiators are available in three versions: with a bellows, remote temperature sensor or with manual adjustment of the coolant supply. With manual adjustment, the desired temperature is set by turning the head to the desired position (there is a corresponding scale). You can install this device in any direction: upwards or to the side. The thermostat controlled by the bellows is preferably turned towards the room. The thing is that if it is directed upwards, the bellows will be in a stream of warm air coming from the radiator. This will lead to an earlier shutdown of the coolant. In this sense, devices with a remote temperature sensor are convenient, which is strengthened far from the heating devices, and the signals are fed to the bellows.

Benefits

The thermostat for heating radiators allows maintaining the set temperature with very high accuracy - up to 1 о С. If such devices are installed in an apartment, then the comfort of their advantages is limited. In cottages or houses equipped with an individual heating system, they also lead to Significant savings on coolants. For example, in kitchens, rooms where many people gather, in rooms on the sunny side is much warmer. Thermostats for radiators cover the flow of the coolant, reducing fuel consumption. Saving is obvious.

Significant benefits for owners of two-story cottages. Usually at a time when the second floor is hot, on the first, to put it mildly, it's cool. This is because warm air rises, accumulating on the second floor. In this case, the way out is thermoregulators for radiators.

The price for the modernization of the existing heating system can be quite high - it all depends on the type of equipment chosen, but, as you know, good cheap does not happen. And the costs (especially in private houses) will pay back fairly quickly.
