The verb to look. Phrasal verbs with to look

A verb often used in English is to look. Phrasal verbs, in the number in which he enters, - a unique grammatical phenomenon, found in the English language. The peculiarity of such verbs is that when an excuse or an adverb is added to them (in other words, a postposition), they partially or completely change their meaning.

Look: basic values

The list of values is impressive. And the constructions are also multivalued. So, a phrase verb look up has several meanings:

  • Look up, raise your eyes;
  • Search for information (in books, in reference books, a word in the dictionary);
  • Visit, see;
  • Respect, worship, honor, worship, worship;
