The Pyramid of Cheops

The pyramid of Cheops, the largest pyramid in the whole world, is located in Giza. The pyramid is one of the seven wonders of the world, which could almost completely survive to our time. Presumably the construction of this work of art lasted 20 years, and began in 2560 BC. Vizier Hemiun is the architect of this pyramid, and was nephew of the pharaoh himself. Before 1300 AD. It was the tallest building in the world - the height of the pyramid of Cheops today is 138.75 meters, previously it was 146 meters, but because of the numerous earthquakes from its top several stones fell.

At the bottom of the pyramid is a square, with each side of it equal to 227.5 meters. The construction of the pyramid was spent more than 2 million stone blocks, with each block weighed more than two tons. American scientists conducted calculations, during which it was possible to establish that much less material was spent on the construction of Christian churches on the territory of England than on this pyramid.

The pyramid of Cheops, the size of which really amazes, is one of the main attractions in Egypt. On each side of the world its faces were oriented, and the angle of inclination with respect to the base is 51 degrees. Some stone blocks are so perfectly aligned with each other that the attempt to thrust the blade of the knife between them was unsuccessful. Inside the pyramid there are no decorations or inscriptions.

The pyramid of Cheops was originally covered from the outside by a special material, thanks to which its surface became perfectly smooth. But over time, this unique cover almost completely collapsed and today tourists will be able to see the material that was used to build this pyramid. The interior of the pyramid was beautifully decorated with decorative stones, bright paint covered the walls of the pyramid, but from it there is practically no trace left today.

The pyramid of Cheops has one single entrance, which is located on the north side, and its height is 16 meters. At a depth of 28 meters there is a burial chamber made of granite, here are kept the sarcophagi of the pharaohs. Nine granite blocks make up the ceiling of the burial chamber, with a total weight of 400 tons. Five separate niches are located above the burial chamber. In four of them a direct ceiling, and one has a ceiling with a slight slope. This was done specifically so that in the future there was no collapse under a large weight of the structure.

It is in this pyramid that there are descending and ascending passages, which are no longer in any other. The main feature of this pyramid is a fairly large descent, which was called the "big gallery". At the end of this gallery is a rather narrow passage, which is a passage into the room of the pharaoh himself. The walls of this room are decorated with amazing polished granite. Scientists have established that the room of the pharaoh was built according to the proportions of the golden section, which is why this is the true triumph of Egyptian geometry.

From the monolith of red granite made the sarcophagus of the pharaoh himself, while its dimensions are much larger than the entrance itself to this room. The sarcophagus, strangely enough, was discovered already open and it contained no valuable things that were intended for the body of the pharaoh himself. Also, the funeral accessories and the mummy of the pharaoh were not found . Scientists have suggested that the pyramid of Cheops in ancient times was plundered.

The famous pyramid of Cheops is one of the most famous secrets of mankind, and the interest of archaeologists, scientists and mathematicians from different countries does not cease for a second. This puzzle can not be solved already for several millennia.
