The corpus callosum as the connecting link of the two hemispheres of the brain

Like any complex system, the brain consists of many parts that perform their strictly defined function. Each of its components deserves special attention. And in this article will be considered a corpus callosum. This organoid of the brain is a thin plate that connects both hemispheres. Accordingly, it is located between them. In shape, the corpus callosum is an arch that is elongated in the middle, slightly thickened posteriorly, and curved downward from the front. If you look at it sagittally, it will have the shape of an oval. In this section, you can clearly see three parts: a roller, a body and a knee that ends with a beak.

Since the corpus callosum is between the hemispheres, its functions are obvious: ensuring the exchange of information between them, that is, a means of communication. Its nerve fibers unite among themselves the same parts of the brain: parietal left and right hemispheres, frontal and others. In addition, the corpus callosum connects the dissimilar parts of the brain. For example, the frontal with the parietal, parietal with the occipital and so on. This part of the brain allows us to produce a harmonious and coordinated work of both hemispheres, both in the part of the motor and in the mental field.

Aging is one of the most frequent congenital diseases that affects the calloused body. The functions of the brain and other organs in this case are violated (mental illnesses, diseases of the genitourinary, cardiac, nervous systems, etc.) develop. Agenosis of the corpus callosum can be diagnosed at the stage of intrauterine development through ultrasound. Symptomatology is also very similar: a delay in the development of psychomotor, physiological functions and intelligence. However, unlike agenesis, in the case of confirmed hypoplasia, it is almost never necessary to artificially interrupt pregnancy. And after the birth of a child, treatment through a set of physical exercises that restores the connections between the hemispheres of the brain is possible . In addition, information-wave therapy can be used. The principle is that the brain is irradiated with special electromagnetic waves, which, like physical exercises, restore interhemispheric connections and help reduce the impact of hypoplasia of the calloused body on the development of the child. With this disease, there is a tendency: the younger the child, the easier it is to rehabilitate. Therefore, in case of suspicion of hypoplasia, it is necessary to diagnose it as soon as possible and immediately begin treatment.
