After giving the queen time to leave with the children, before reporting the incident to Bishop Vesteras, Ned makes a mistake. Taking advantage of the delay, Sersei organizes the murder of her husband, and Stark declares a rebel and puts him in jail, and later executes.

After the death of Robert and Eddard, the elder son of Baratheon Joffrey becomes the ruler of the seven kingdoms (in fact, the bastard).
