The Pakhra River - Fishery's Freedom

The Pakhra River is the largest tributary of the Moscow River. It flows from the south side of the capital. Despite the insignificant length of a hundred and thirty kilometers-and the small area of the basin-just under three thousand square meters-about two hundred and thirty tributaries flow into it.

Source

The Pakhra River originates from the Medvedka tract in the middle of a small swamp, seven kilometers from the Ozigovo railway crossing. At the very source it represents in places in summer a drying little tiny brook that breaks through thick birch woods to the northeast. Replenished on this site by several unnamed tributaries, turning into a full-flowing river, gradually changing the direction of its current, turns to the east.

Pakhra - river on the map

On this tributary of the Moscow River are Podolsk, a number of settlements: Dubrovitsy, Shishkin Les - villages and villages: Konakovo, Krasnaya Pakhra, Yam, Kolychevo, Dolgino, Churilkovo, Zelenaya Sloboda, etc. There are deep holes in its channel, Probability, from the dissolution of limestones. Some tributaries of Pahra are lost in the karst faults, along the banks there are a lot of landslides. A deep pit in its mouth at the confluence of the Moscow River has been known since the last century. It was formed as a result of the extraction of that limestone from which the Belokamennaya was built.

Features

The Pakhra River freezes not earlier than mid-November, but is not opened until early March. Spring flood is always accompanied by a high water rise. In the spring, up to seventy-five percent of the entire volume flowing through the year flows from it, thereby contributing to the small area's forestation.

Considered one of the most fishy after the Oka River, the Pakhra River is located in the south of the Moscow Region and on the territory of New Moscow. The largest of its tributaries are the Desna, Mocha and Rozhayka rivers . The Pakhra River is rather tortuous. In fairly warm winters it does not freeze.

Pakhra is not a navigable river. In the deepest areas, the depth does not exceed eight meters. Very often there are places where it can be easily forded.

For anglers

The width of the river is a maximum of fifty meters. Going fishing, you need to remember that its beaches are famous for frequent landslides.
Fishing on the Pakhra River is very interesting. Among fans of "quiet hunting" it is known for the fact that you can catch large bream here. This is due to the presence in it of deep pits and beating from the crevices of limestone keys. Previously, there were several dams in Pahra, which are currently dismantled. From them, too, there are pits in the riverbed. The only surviving of the old dams is located near the village of Uslon.

Species of fish

Even an inexperienced fisherman may be lucky enough to become the owner of a rich booty. Also the Pakhra river is famous for perch, bream, roach, pike, chub, yazem and asp. It is here - in one of the few places on the territory of the Moscow region - you can catch large, weighing up to a kilo, carp.

Types of fishing

The guarantee of a successful catch can be even the most simple fishing rod, which has a minimal snap. In this case, Pahra is capricious enough for fishermen: the catch depends not only on the type of fishing chosen, but also on the correct complementary feeding. Those who plan to catch a pike, as a rule, take with them spinning or mugs. The most common fishing is from the shore. From the boat fishing is uncomfortable because of the tortuosity of the river bed and often encountered areas with shallow depths. One of the most popular places is the dam on the river near the village of Shaganino.

Prohibition of fishing

The closure of the season in the Pakhra River coincides with the general ban, which is typical for all water bodies in the Moscow region. Strictly not allowed almost any fishing from the tenth of April to the fifteenth of June. At this time, you can go out to catch only from the shore and a maximum of two fishing rods per person. At the same time, fishing is allowed strictly in those places on the river, which are not on the list of spawning places.

Transport accessibility of the Pakhra River has long been the reason for its great popularity among fishermen. You can easily reach its shores by private car. The recognized fishing sites are the sites beyond the villages of Voronovo and Sofino. In addition, along the Kaluzhskoye Highway it is easy to reach Shaganino, where a pike in abundance will be guaranteed in a 200-meter-wide dam.
