The keyboard does not work. What to do?

Problems of this nature often arise with new equipment. You bought a keyboard, came home, connected, and it does not work. In fact, once it is under warranty, it can be returned and exchanged for another product. However, very often the keyboard does not work because of compatibility problems with the operating system. They are easily eliminated by elementary settings.

If the keyboard does not work due to a software failure, then some manipulations in the Windows settings will help to solve this problem. First, try going to "Device Manager". To do this, go to the "Control Panel", select "System", in the opened window, select the "System Properties" - "Hardware" - "Device Manager" tab.

You will see a list of all the hardware that is installed on your computer. Find the controller responsible for the keyboard. Most likely, opposite to it there will be a yellow triangle, symbolizing about any malfunction in the given controller. Now right-click in the "Device Manager" keyboard, in the drop-down menu, select "Delete". The system asks you, select the affirmative answer. After that, the keyboard controller will be successfully deleted from your computer.

Now you need to re-install it, go back to the "Control Panel", go to "Hardware Installation", find the "Next" button, after which the system will scan the connected devices and those with incompatibilities found. Most likely, she will offer to install the driver. During the scan, a remote keyboard will be found and added to the list of devices, and an automatic attempt to install drivers will also occur. In most cases, this technique will help to "revive" your keyboard.

If the keyboard does not work after the previous method of recovery, you should try to perform a similar procedure for removing and restoring the USB ports.

Here is a short list of reasons why the keyboard does not work:

The first and most banal - the device simply broke. This happens rarely, but still happens.

For another reason, the burned ps / 2 port may affect the performance of the keyboard.

If you do not have a USB keyboard that requires additional drivers, take care of it. This option is relevant for most multimedia devices.

Also, the virus can become the reason why the keyboard will not work. In this case, store an antivirus with fresh bases.

First, check the condition of the keyboard wire, there may be a bend somewhere that has broken the contacts. Make sure the device is connected to the computer. If you suspect that the problem lies in the health of the port, try to connect another keyboard, also use another computer to test your keyboard. Sometimes it happens that the ps / 2 port has bent pins, in which case they should be straightened with tweezers.

The probability that the keyboard of Windows 7 does not work is close to zero. Even multimedia keyboards have excellent compatibility with this operating system, with all the necessary drivers installed automatically.
