Heroes of Russia and their exploits. Heroes of the Russian Federation

True human capabilities and abilities are most often manifested in a difficult time for the country, society, a particular person. So there are heroes. These people are remembered for a long time afterwards, they are cited as an example for the younger generation. It happens everywhere. Many heroes of Russia and their exploits left a memorable trace both in the history of their country and in the world. Each of them is worthy of veneration and respect, and also of that the younger generation remembered them and saw an example in them.

All the heroic deeds of Russia did not perform for personal glory, but due to circumstances and necessity. It is in them that the courage of the nation, unselfishness and endless love for man remains.

Title "Hero of the Soviet Union"

In 1934, in April, the highest award was established, which was given for special merits. This was the title of Hero of the USSR, and together with him they were given a material reward - the Gold Star medal. The latter was made of gold, looked like a five-pointed star, on its back was written "Hero of the USSR." Also had a red ribbon (20 mm wide).

The list of heroes of the Soviet Union who received this star was launched much earlier than the award itself was approved. At the time of its appearance (October 16, 1939), this degree of distinction has already been received by several hundred people. Also, together with the gold medal of the Hero of the USSR, the Order of Lenin was also awarded.

For which they gave the title of Hero of the Soviet Union

In order to receive this medal and rank, it was necessary to perform a feat for the state or society - personally or collectively. A person could be awarded more than once (those who received the star four times) are fixed. Of course, such heroes were few.

Those who performed the feat twice received a second star. And also in the homeland of this man a bronze bust was installed. Since 1973, he was awarded the second Order of Lenin with a second award.

Those who were awarded this title and star for the third time, received one more, the third star. In addition, the decree was written about the construction of a bust in Moscow. However, this point has never been implemented.

The first awards were held in the pre-war period. It happened on April 20, 1934, when seven pilots rendered considerable assistance in saving the icebreaker "Chelyuskin". After that, every person who committed something unusual and outstanding, having shown bravery, ingenuity, received this award. Thus, all the heroic deeds of Russia performed when they were required to perform something for the benefit of the country or society. Of course, this does not mean that everyone who received the award, performed these actions in order to get a star. All of them simply did their duty.

Awarded with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union

The list of heroes of the Soviet Union is quite large. Of course, most of those who received the award received it only once. It was 12,617 people. However, there are people who have been awarded this award two, three or even four times. Since the award was instituted during the war, very many received it posthumously for their services.

Citizens of the USSR who received the award four times, only two. The first in this list was Zhukov Georgiy Konstantinovich. He received his stars in 1939, 1944, 1945 and 1956. The first award Zhukov was received in the rank of corps, and the three others are already in the rank of marshal of the Soviet Union.

Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev was also awarded four times. He received his awards in 1966, 1976, 1978 and 1981. The first was received in the rank of Lieutenant-General, and the subsequent - in the rank of marshal of the Soviet Union.

Three times awarded the "Golden Star" only three people. This is Marshal of the Soviet Union Semyon Mikhailovich Budyonny, as well as pilots Ivan Nikitovich Kozhedub and Alexander Ivanovich Pokryshkin. Kozhedub and Pokryshkin received the award during the Second World War, and Budyonny already after it.

Twice rewarded with the "Golden Star" was 154 people. Twelve cities were also given the status of "Hero City", and the Brest Fortress - "Hero Fortress".

The appearance of the award "Hero of the Russian Federation"

After the collapse of the Soviet Union to replace this award came another. March 20, 1992 was established the title of Hero of the Russian Federation, as well as the corresponding award - the medal "Gold Star". The latter is made of gold, looks like a five-pointed star, on the back of which there is an inscription "Hero of Russia". Also, the medal has a ribbon of colors of the flag of Russia. The award is given by the president only once.

The first heroes of bourgeois Russia, whose exploits are unknown in the broad masses, received their medal on April 11, 1992. There were two of them, one of them received this award and a decoration posthumously. Medal number one was given to SK Krikalev. Because he spent a long time at the orbital station Mir. In his time it was a record. Award number two was awarded posthumously to Sulambek SO. For the fact that at the cost of his life he saved the settlement from the crash of the aircraft due to the technology that had failed in it.

One nuance in the order of rewards: although Krikalev received the medal number one, but the decree about awarding the star to Sulambek was earlier. Some say that the leadership did not want the first award to be awarded posthumously.

For what services can you receive the award of the Hero of Russia

Heroes of Russia and their exploits to date are quite numerous, about a thousand people (according to official figures). Hand this medal for special merits before the society and the country. Most of the recipients received it for military service. They were also participants of the Great Patriotic War (about a hundred people), who at one time were not awarded this title. Practically everyone got it posthumously.

Also, a large number of those who received the title of Hero of the Russian Federation were participants in the war in Chechnya (about five hundred people). By the way, many citizens had an ambiguous attitude towards the war, so, perhaps, the same applies to the award itself. At least in the Soviet Union there was a different attitude to this title.

Also, the title of Hero of the Russian Federation was given to intelligence officers, military men who performed feats not in combat operations, as well as citizens working as rescuers, testers, cosmonauts.

Those who are in military service who received the award

A lot of brave people have the army of Russia. Heroes and exploits here take a special place, since almost everyone received a star on the battlefield, many were awarded posthumously. We list some of them:

  1. Dmitry Vorobiev. I received my award in twenty-five years, in 2000. This happened during the operation in Chechnya.
  2. Oleg Tibekin. Received the award posthumously in 2000. His chest covered the retreating guys, and he was shot at close range near Grozny.
  3. Valentin Padalka. The award was given in 1994, when terrorists seized schoolchildren in Rostov and demanded a helicopter. He was at the helm. Thanks to his ingenuity, all the hostages remained alive.

Of course, this is by no means all those who are liable for military service, who committed a heroic deed. In Russia there are many brave people who will do everything possible to save the lives of others.

Civilians who received the award

The title "Hero of the Russian Federation" can be obtained not only by a person liable for military service, but also by an ordinary person who does not have a military rank. To date, 134 people have been awarded.

The first owner of the "Golden Star" of civilians was Nurdin Usamov. In 2003, he was awarded a reward for showing courage and heroism during the performance of his official duty. It was under his leadership that the restoration of energy in post-war Chechnya began. All the works took place with a risk to the life of the power engineers, and two attempts were made against Usamov.

These are the real heroes of Russia, and their exploits make us think about the life and strength of the human spirit, about those actions that we could commit, but for some reason they did not.

People who were awarded the awards of two countries (Russia and the USSR)

At the junction of the times of the existence of the two countries, when one award ceased to exist, and the second was just established, some received a double award - Hero of the USSR and Hero of the Russian Federation. There were few such citizens, only four.

  1. Sergei Konstantinovich Krikalev. The world famous cosmonaut, who has many professional awards. In 1989, at a time when the Soviet Union still existed, he became his hero and was awarded the Gold Star medal. In 1992, he became the first holder of the same medal in a new country, the Russian Federation.
  2. Valery Vladimirovich Polyakov. Though he is a doctor by his education, he received awards as an astronaut. The first in 1989, becoming the Hero of the Soviet Union. In 1995, he made a record flight on the Mir orbital complex, the duration of which was 437 days. To date, this is a record. It was for him that he received the award of the Hero of the Russian Federation.
  3. Nikolai Sainovich Maidanov. He was a famous helicopter pilot who received both awards on the battlefield. In 1988 he was awarded the title of Hero of the USSR. In 2000 he received the award of the Hero of the Russian Federation, but already posthumously.
  4. Artur Nikolayevich Chilingarov. A well-known polar explorer, scientist. Also for some time he was engaged in political activities. In 1986 he received the title of Hero of the USSR. The award was awarded for the performance of a difficult task. In 2008, I received a Hero of the Russian Federation for conducting a deep-sea expedition.

All Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Russia are truly courageous and brave citizens of their country. Each of them performed a feat in special extreme conditions, showing his heroism and resourcefulness.

The feats that ordinary people commit

Many citizens, although they have not received the Hero of Russia award, are nevertheless such. These are the real heroes of our time. The exploits of ordinary people are often unobtrusive, but in the hearts of loved ones they remain forever. For example, Zhenya Tabakov, who is the youngest hero of Russia and the owner of the Order of Courage. He received it posthumously when he defended his sister from the criminal. In 2009 he was awarded the Order, which was given to his mother.

Heroes of Russia and their feats are numerous. You should remember about them, do not forget. Remember and know not only the heroes of the past, but also those who live in the present, those who give life to future generations. Only then can we become a truly great power, worthy of all its heroes.
