The film "Bony tomahawk" became his directorial debut. The picture received rave reviews from critics. But more on that later.

Zaler is an interesting and versatile personality. He is a writer, writer and musician. Four of his novels have been published. According to the last of them, the director of the film "Bony tomahawk", reviews of which almost all are positive, writes now the script of the new Western "Robbers from Rattleborg". The plot is based on the story of two cowboys who came to the Indian settlement. They offer assistance in the return of the bandit kidnapped daughter of the tribal leader, and in return they ask the Indian shamans to cause a "storm of rain" with a strong storm in a certain place. This method works in the movie "Bone tomahawk" ("Bony tomahawk" in Russian).

The choice of the genre is a big part of the success of the picture

Westerns were unusually popular in the middle of the last century, but then gave way to such genres as thriller, horror and gangster films. For his debut work, Zaler chose exactly the half-forgotten old western, and he did not disappoint. The film "Bone Tomahawk", reviews of which can be read further, is still different from the classic westerns - the director was not afraid to add to it a fair dose of very bloody realistic scenes. The result was a devilish western cocktail with elements of horror.

The plot of the western horror

The film takes place in the late XIX century on the border between Texas and Mexico. Two bandits, Purvis and Buddy, kill the travelers on the prairie and clean their bodies and things. Hearing the noise, they hide in the gorge. In it, they find frightening totems created from bones, including human ones. Soon they wander into the Indian cemetery and are attacked. Buddy is killed, and Pervis manages to escape.

After a while he appears in the small town of Bright Hope, where the orders are supervised by Sheriff Franklin Hunt and his two assistants. One of them, an elderly Chicory, tells the sheriff about a suspicious stranger, and Hunt arrests Pervis, after having shot him a leg in an attempt to escape.

The assistant is assisted by a local doctor's assistant, Samantha O'Duir. She stays in the sheriff's office for the night, worried about the condition of Persis. The second assistant of the Hunt protects the bandit - Nick.

At night, the town is attacked by Indians. The groom is killed, and Nick, Samantha and Purvis are kidnapped. From the local Indian people learn about a tribe of Indian cannibals, whom the rest are afraid of and avoid meeting with them. Khan gathers people to save the kidnapped, but only four people agree to go on a rescue expedition. They will have several days of hard work and a meeting with a dangerous and cruel enemy.

He's a sheriff, and no one can do his job. Elderly Buddy's assistant is ready to follow the boss to the ends of the earth, and Hunt can not help it, although he understands that the old man is a burden. John Brooder goes with everyone to take revenge on the Indians for his broken life, and the cowboy Arthur O'Duir is ready for anything to save his beloved wife. Each of the four has weaknesses, but at the most crucial moment all of them are capable of displaying great willpower.
