The currency of Germany is a strong brand

The currency of Germany - the brand had almost a hundred and fifty years and a very rich history. For the first time it was born in 1871 during the unification of German lands under the rule of Prussian Emperor Wilhelm the First. The newly created currency of Germany was called upon to ensure the economic stability and industrial growth of the new Empire. At the initial stage of its existence, the brand fairly confidently coped with these tasks.

But everything changed after the First World War, when Germany, which lost it, fell into a real economic collapse. In the twenties of the last century in the vastness of the German state, monstrous inflation reigned in combination with profound psychological and economic depression. At that time, even the German currency (banknote) was issued with a face value of one hundred billion marks.

And in 1923, in the days of the Weimar Republic, in order to overcome the disastrous hyperinflation of the Gustav Stresemann government for the German economy, the paper stamp was replaced by a so-called rental one. It was a temporary currency of Germany, devoid of a legal course and preceded the introduction into circulation of a new Reichsmark, issued in August 1924.

Emission of metal Reichsmarks at that time became a frequent occurrence - they changed almost annually. Then the currency in Germany was not very stable. Affected by the economic consequences of defeat in the war. In order to raise the national spirit and truly German patriotism, the Reichsmarks depicted memorable events from the life of the nation and the outstanding figures of the German state.

In 1930, the government decided to dedicate a five-stamp coin to a circumnavigation carried out a year earlier by the famous airship Graf Zeppelin. A commemorative silver coin weighing twenty-five grams and a diameter of thirty-seven millimeters was made by the famous German engraver and artist Franz Krishker. Its obverse was decorated with the image of a German Imperial eagle, accompanied by the name of the issuing country - the German Reich. And on the reverse there was directly the image of the legendary airship flying over the globe.

After the Nazis came to power Reichsmark began to rapidly strengthen. And over time it has become one of the most reliable currencies in Europe. Unfortunately, arguing about Germany, it is impossible to ignore the gloomy and sinister period of 1933-45. In addition, then a considerable number of so-called occupation marks were in circulation. But this topic deserves a deep and scrupulous research, which the format of this article does not allow.

After the end of the total bloodbath of the Second World War, the country lying in the smoking ruins began to carry out social transformations and global economic reforms, sponsored by the German scientist and prominent politician Ludwig Erhard. In almost a decade, these changes in German life brought Germany back to the top world powers.

On June 20, 1948, Erhard, with his speech on national radio, abolished the government's control over pricing and removed most of the administrative regulations that largely restricted market freedom .

At the same time on the night of June 21, 1948, it was announced the introduction of a new monetary unit - dojmarka. All citizens received forty new marks, and salaries, pensions and utility payments were recalculated at the rate of 1: 1. All enterprises received funds to pay the first salary, and in the future they had to function at their own expense. This was the beginning of the new economic life of democratic Germany.

Since the fiftieth year, dojmarka never changed. Now almost every person knows what currency is in Germany. After all, Germany, one of the leading countries in the world, the "financial capital of Europe," as it is often called, was at the root of the creation of the eurozone and the introduction of the united European currency.
