The content of rabbits in holes with holes

The content of rabbits in burrows is suitable for those who do not have ground waters close to the surface. Not suitable for this method of breeding and stony soil. The content of rabbits in burrows can be carried out both in large areas, and in homesteads or suburban areas.

This method of cultivation is suitable only for those who sell rabbits for meat, since the content of rabbits in the land is not suitable for fur and downy breeds. The best rabbits of medium size live and breed under normal conditions. The maintenance of rabbits in such conditions provides presence of a considerable quantity of small animals as the maintenance of 5-10 individuals in such a way is absolutely unprofitable.

The method of growing in burrows is based on animal instincts of rabbits, which, despite being bred in cellular conditions, are able to dig deep, branched holes where they live and reproduce.

On the site the highest place is selected. You need to dig a pit size 2h2m. It should be 1-1.5 m deep. Small animals will be able to escape from the smaller pit. The walls of the recess are almost completely frayed, leaving an unmarked place in the lower part of the wall in which, with the help of a shovel, we tear out the beginning of the future burrow (the entrance must be quite wide). The burrow is placed 10 cm above the floor so that the manure collected and the excavated earth are below the entrance to the burrow. Since usually rabbits urinate before entering the burrow, the entrance to the burrow raised above the floor level will ensure dryness in it. In order to close the burrow if necessary (in case of catching rabbits for slaughter or during harvesting), make a damper on it.

A roof is being built above the pit. It should be one- run for water drainage on it, and not into the pit. The water should drain to the side opposite to the holes. On the pit, if desired, you can make a lid, which if necessary is closed to the castle (from thieves).

On the floor should be poured a layer of sand in 20 cm on it put a flat metal mesh through which rabbits can not dig holes, but will pass into the ground urine.

A wide feeder and drinking bowls for rabbits are built along the walls . They should not be placed too high from the floor and close to the hole.

The content of rabbits in the pit provides for the presence in it of a layer of fresh straw as a litter, which is changed every 3-4 days. During harvest rabbits are driven into a cage, and a dirty bedding with manure is cleaned with a shovel.

In the prepared pit, several rabbits and rabbits are being launched. Very quickly the rabbits begin to continue burrows deep, so at this time you need to periodically clean up the dug earth. Already in the near future rabbits, whose content in the pits of a fairly profitable business, will expand the nodules and begin to multiply.

This method of breeding rabbits has unconditional advantages:

- cheapness of the contents (in such a pit at the same time up to 200 rabbits of all ages can be kept);

- this pit serves for a very long time and does not need to be heated in winter (it's warm enough in the burrows);

- the rabbits give birth in a natural environment for themselves a healthier offspring;

- little animals get sick;

- the land area is saved;

- feeding is facilitated (everyone eats in one place);

- decreases the consumption of feed (what falls out of the trough, eats up small animals);

- rabbits very quickly reproduce,

- dung mixed with dug earth is an excellent fertilizer;

- the floor and water in the water bowls in winter do not freeze.

But the maintenance and breeding of rabbits in pits has also minuses:

- the closely related crossing (inbreeding) leads to some diseases, deformities and a decrease in the size of the animals;

- it is impossible to accurately calculate the number of rabbits;

- animals become almost wild;

- it is difficult to conduct breeding work;

- It is a little uncomfortable to clean the pit.

To solve the problem of inbreeding, males should be regularly changed (once a year). You need to choose a large male so that he can resist "local natives".
