Drinker for rabbits - fresh water for an animal without problems

It is known that it is easier for rabbits to tolerate a lack of food than the absence of water. Uninterrupted supply of fresh water is very important for normal development and growth, especially if animals feed on dry food, grain or granulated mixed fodder. So, an adult animal needs half a liter of water per day, and rabbits with cubs require up to two liters.

There are different designs, but each drinker for rabbits has its drawbacks. In some, water is contaminated with manure, urine and food, while others leak. For fans-rabbit breeders, vacuum devices or nipple drinkers for rabbits are best suited. They can be purchased at the store or manufactured independently.

The design of the vacuum autopilot is simple. Above the cup capacity in a wire or other kind of holder, a bottle of up to one liter is installed. The rings of the holder are fixed on the cell wall. In a smaller ring, the neck of the bottle is pierced, the larger one is designed to keep the bottle from tipping over.

As a cupping device, cans of oval form with a depth of 10-20 mm are used. There is a drinking bowl for rabbits according to the following principle. A water filled bottle and a stoppered bottle are installed in the holder. Then it is slightly raised and the plug is removed, lowering the container back into the holder. The water level in the device reaches the cutting edge of the bottle neck and is maintained in a constant state as the liquid is consumed by the rabbits until the container is fully emptied. The drinking bowl is placed at a height of 5-7 cm in a cage containing females with sticky rabbits and at a distance of 10 cm from the floor in the cages where there are adult animals or young animals on fattening. When installing the device for drinking, it is necessary to take into account the fact that rabbits are lapping water. And, so that the drinker is less polluted by fodder and excrement, it is necessary that its bowl should not go deeper than 2-3 cm. The liquid level should not fall from the upper edge by more than one centimeter. Also, with a small cup size, water evaporates less from its surface.

In household farms , a drinking bowl for rabbits is often used, acting on the principle of communicating vessels. In such cases, the cup devices on the same row or tier of cells are located at the same level and communicate with each other by means of hoses or tubes. Filling with water comes from the equalization tank, thanks to which the same level of water in the water bowls is installed and automatically maintained. As a tank with an equalizing device installed, you can use a float autoprinker. This makes it possible to provide water with at least 15 cups.

A drinking bowl is produced, as well as a feeder for rabbits, with their own hands. This requires the presence of three plastic bottles, a tube from the dropper, wire and wooden bars. One bottle, which will contain water, should be left whole. The second one must be cut in half into two parts, from which the level and the holder will be made. From the third bottle will only need a neck - this will be the water-bottle for rabbits.

To make the holder, it is necessary to make a hole in the bottom of the bottom half of the second bottle. The size of the hole should be the same as that of the neck. The same part on the sides is cut to accommodate the drinking bowl attachment. The upper part will be used as a level. The holder connects to the level so that the throat passes through the opening at the bottom of the bottle. Then a whole bottle with a lid is inserted into the level, in which a hole 10 mm in diameter is made. To make the design of the drinkers are taken wooden blocks and a board, which are connected with nails. With the help of a tube from the dropper, the level communicates with the drinker. A holder and a loaf of water are attached with a wire to a wooden base. The drinking bowl is ready for rabbits.
