Color-Point Persian - cute and intelligent breed of cats

The Persian color-point breed was bred in artificial conditions. Two researchers from the UK and the US decided to cross the Persians with Siamese cats to get new fuzzy. It should be noted that the new breed inherited from its ancestors not only a bright appearance, but also a character. Today, at the exhibitions, Color Point is a significant competition for the Persians.

Their story began in 1931, when Virginia Cobb and Clyde Killer decided to bring out a new original breed. For this purpose, a Siamese cat and a pure-bred Persian of black color were chosen. Initially, the breeders did not work, because in the litter were only black short-haired kids. Then they took a Persian black cat and tied it with a Siamese male. The result was the same as in the first case. From both litters, Killer and Cobb chose the best representatives and crossed them among themselves.

The color-point Persian breed has gone a long and hard way before becoming the same as now. Only five years after the experiment began, the breeders received a purebred cat. Then eight more years went by improving and fixing the color. Only in 1955 the organization GCCF registered such a breed as color-point Persian. The best animals from the litter were constantly selected and crossed with purebred Persians of traditional colors.

A cat can be any color, the main thing is the presence of spots on the face and pads of the paws. Most often there is a force-point (dark brown marks), there are also chocolate-point (brown), blue-point (blue), lilak-point (lilac). The overall coat color should be light, reaching white. The color of the color-point Persian is chosen by many because of its attractive appearance and positive character. Such cats are very attached to a person, stand out with intelligence and curiosity, are balanced, active and mobile. Animals are very sociable, prefer to be in the spotlight, participate in the thick of events, easily achieve their goals.

Persian color-point is exacting in care. His long fur needs frequent bathing and daily combing. Cats favorably treat such procedures, so they do not cause problems. In some cases, there is a darkening of the coat. Basically it happens to old animals. If this happened to a young pet, then this is a big drawback. Genetics plays an important role in the darkening of wool, because the ancestor of this breed was a black cat Persian. Color-point can also change due to lowering of temperature in the room. With frequent cooling, ears, nose and tail first darken.

Because the color is thermo-dependent, you can not let the cat lie on the cold floor or window sill, pluck out or trim his covershairs. A balanced diet is of great importance. If the animal will eat well, get all the necessary useful substances and trace elements with food, then its coat will be dense and beautiful. To avoid darkening it is necessary to abandon vitamins with the content of sea grass.
