Theatre of Drama

Tambov Theater is one of the oldest among theaters in Russia. The date of its creation is June 28, 1786. Mail Museum

This unusual museum is located on the territory of the Second City Hospital (pathoanatomical department). It was founded by Yuri Shchukin. This unique collection was collected by the doctor about thirty years ago. It has more than five hundred exhibits. At the entrance to the museum you can see a sign with the inscription in Latin, which reads: "This is the place where the living learn from the dead."

Museum of Medicine

Tambov (the sights of this city are known far beyond its borders) is famous for its Museum of Medicine, created by a group of enthusiasts. For the first time he opened his doors to visitors on December 29, 1978. The museum exposition details the development of medicine in the Tambov region from the seventeenth century up to the present day. Chicherin's House-Museum

Chicherin GV was People's Commissar of the RSFSR. He was known as an outstanding diplomat and statesman. The house-museum, dedicated to his memory, was opened in 1987. It is housed in the city estate of a Russian diplomat who was the father of Chicherin GV. The Chicherin family lived in this wooden one-story house from 1877 to 1886. Many people worked on the creation of the museum. The house has been completely restored, the adjacent territory is refined. The museum exposition gathered for several years. However, work on finding new exhibits is still taking place today. Employees constantly collect new books, documents, one way or another related to the activities of Chicherin. Currently, the museum has three and a half thousand exhibits.

The Museum of A. Lodygin

Tambov is famous for great inventors. The sights of this city include the museum of the famous scientist Lodygin. It is to this man that the world owes the creation of such an object as a light bulb. Today, perhaps, very few people remember his name. Lodygin A.N. once invented incandescent bulbs, thanks to which we can today rejoice in the light and in the dark. The Lodygin Museum is located opposite the Intercession Church on Lermontovskaya Street. In a small antique brick house, where the inventor lived, a room-museum is now open. There are unique exhibits reflecting the scientist's complex life: samples with refractory metal threads and with a carbon filament, some lighting devices. In addition, there is a fragment of the room where Lodygin worked. All visitors are offered lists of honorary titles and inventions of the scientist.

Temples of Tambov

One of the most notable is the Ascension Monastery. It was founded in 1690. On its territory the church of John of Kronstadt and the icon of the Mother of God was built. In the monastery is kept the miraculous icon of "Joy of All Who Sorrow". On major religious holidays around it is a religious procession.

On the Kronstadt square there is a magnificent temple of the Protection of the Holy Virgin. It was built in the Russian-Byzantine style and is considered one of the most ancient buildings in the city.

Parks in Tambov
