Inner Mongolia - the most exotic place in China

Inner Mongolia is an autonomous region of China, located in the northern part of the country. The area it occupies is about 1.2 million km2, and the population is about 25 million people. This territorial administrative unit occupies only a small part of the PRC, but it is larger than Germany and France combined. The capital of Inner Mongolia is Hohhot, and the largest city is Baotou.

In the 10th century this territory was inhabited by the Mongols, freedom-loving and independent nomadic tribes. In 1636, the lands were seized by manjuries and they were included in the composition of China, that's when the name Inner Mongolia arose. In 1912, the region administratively became part of China, as Outer Mongolia was declared an independent state. As an autonomous region it has been functioning since May 1, 1947.

In China, there are a lot of really beautiful and impressive places, but still nothing compares to such a truly exotic place as Inner Mongolia. Cities that are compulsory for tourists - Hohhot, Baotou, Chifeng. To see what remains of the ancient shafts, poured by the great Genghis Khan, it is necessary to visit such cities as Zhalantun or Manchuria.

The majority of the local population is engaged in agriculture, and raw materials for medicinal preparations used in folk medicine, which have their own methods of treatment and diagnostics, are also being collected here, but in something similar to the Tibetan school. Tourism is also gradually developing in this area. First of all, in Inner Mongolia it will be interesting to fans of horses.

It is necessary to visit every corner of this amazing region to understand what Inner Mongolia is all about. There are places of interest in almost every city. First of all, it is recommended to visit the museum located in Hohhot. It was built in 1957 in the Mongolian architectural style. The complex occupies an area of 5 thousand m2, a large number of exhibits reflecting the historical and cultural development of the region have been collected here. Also here you can see archaeological finds, remains of mastodons and dinosaurs.

Inner Mongolia is also the place where the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan is built. Where exactly the great commander is buried is unknown, therefore the Mausoleum is only a tomb built in honor of Genghis Khan, but not in the place of his burial. This building evokes delight among all visitors with its elegance and beauty. Here come the pilgrims to honor the memory of the commander.

Inner Mongolia is rich not only in the vast meadows, but also in majestic deserts. Tourists should definitely visit the valley of singing sands. If the weather is dry enough, then you just have to move out of the sand dune, as soon as there is a sound like a working heavy equipment. In addition, it will be interesting to look at the sand dunes, oases, lakes, hiding in the middle of the desert.

Near the capital of Inner Mongolia is the summer resort of Silamuren. Every year, the Nadam festival is held here, where the indigenous people and guests demonstrate their skills. Tourists will be delighted with national dresses and a favorite drink of local residents - mare's milk.
