Syndrome of the vertebral artery. Treatment

The treatment of the vertebral artery syndrome is aimed at getting rid of the causes that caused this condition.

Typical manifestations of the disease include, in the first place, headache. As a rule, it begins in the neck and occiput, gradually spreading to the forehead, to the ear, to the eye, to the parietal-temporal zone. Most often, pain is one-sided, can have a permanent or paroxysmal (episodic) nature. When making neck movements, the pain intensifies.

Often when touched to the scalp (even minor), soreness appears. When tilting or turning the head often there is a crunch, which in some cases is accompanied by a burning sensation. This condition is called "cervical migraine." The above signs are signs accompanying the syndrome of the vertebral artery . Treatment is prescribed by autogravitational therapy. This method allows you to quickly and safely eliminate pain, increasing the distance between the vertebrae, eliminate compression in the nerve endings.

In some cases, against the background of the vertebral artery syndrome , nausea, dizziness, ringing or noise in the ears (often synchronously with the pulse).

In some cases, auditory disorders, visual impairment (veil, decreased acuity, double vision, fog, flies) are noted. Seldom there can be disturbances in the swallowing process, a feeling of presence in the throat of a foreign object. This condition is called "pharyngeal migraine."

The compression of the vertebral artery provokes paroxysmal conditions. As a rule, they are of two types:

  • After turning the head, the patient, as if it were knocked down, falls, without losing consciousness. Rises independently after a short period of time;
  • The patient, turning his head, falls, losing consciousness. Come to himself in five to twenty minutes. Rises, however, feels a long time of weakness.

In some cases, disorders of a vegetative nature are revealed. They include short-term hunger, thirst, a feeling of chills or a fit of heat.

Elevated blood pressure often accompanies vertebral artery syndrome. Treatment of hypertension in this case will only bring temporary relief.

Against the backdrop of atherosclerosis of the brain vessels, the patient feels dizzy when the head is tilted. In osteochondrosis, the condition occurs when the head is raised.

As progression, the vertebral artery syndrome, whose treatment was aimed at facilitating concomitant manifestations, can provoke individual pathological disorders in brain tissue of an organic nature.

Against the backdrop of prolonged vessel spasms, it is likely that persistent ischemic foci are formed. They are connected, as a rule, with pathological changes of the spine.

When performing ultrasound dopplerography, the diagnosis and all manifestations accompanying the vertebral artery syndrome are specified. Treatment, as well as diagnosis, appoints a neurologist.

In addition to autogravitational therapy, acupuncture, therapeutic gymnastics is prescribed. The manual-massage complex of procedures is also of great importance in the elimination of such a disease as vertebral artery syndrome. Treatment with the osteopathic method is considered a dynamic process, albeit quite complex. Biological and mechanical picture of the state of the cervical-cranial passage and cervical section undergoes changes during therapy. At the same time, in each session, the exposure is selected in accordance with the leading violations. It should be noted that the application of the osteopathic method is mainly aimed at eliminating the causes of compression and irritation in the vegetative plexus of the walls of the artery of the spine.
