Still life with a pumpkin: bright colors of a bygone summer

Autumn time for artists is a special time. When the riot of summer colors is already behind, autumn comes and brings quite different motifs: freshness and transparency of the air, the charm of fallen leaves, the charm of ripening fruits and vegetables. Today we face a creative task - creating a painting called "Still Life with a Pumpkin".

Basics of composition

The most important subject of this autumn image is a colorful pumpkin of any color. This vegetable, thanks to the variety of shades, allows you to create a picture that is sustained in any color scheme. Most often you can find orange-yellow patterns, but milky-white or green pumpkin is also not uncommon.

We select other items for the picture. Still life with a pumpkin, in addition to the main object of the composition, can include such items as:

• Various dishes (jugs, cups);
• Expressive ceramic products (vases, figurines);
• Other vegetables and fruits;
• Meadow flowers.

The main stages of writing a picture

1. We select a paint of the necessary shade and we put on paper with the help of suitable brushes.
2. We make a pencil sketch of the future still life: we indicate where the line of the table ends, we outline the boundaries of all objects, not forgetting that the accessories in the background will be only partially visible, as they are overlapped with attributes of the foreground.
3. First of all, you should paint the largest objects, after which it is recommended to draw smaller details. Thus, the background of the picture is first created, and then the image of the "main characters" of the composition - pumpkin and other objects is drawn.
4. Before you finish the still life with a pumpkin, you should pay attention to the distribution of light and shadows in the picture. As a result of competent imposition of smears, an autumn vegetable should acquire an expressive texture and a special color. Draw all the small details of the picture.
