Youth years

We can say that Lev Yashin's professional sports biography began from his youth. Quite hard-working Yashin learned to plumbing, then went to work for one of the plants located in the suburbs. These young years fell at the height of the Great Patriotic War, so the teenager had to work for hours on end. Larionchikov trained all the guys from the plant.

And although Lev wanted to play the attacker more, the coach for some reason constantly put him at the gate. Yashin obediently obeyed his orders, and it was impossible not to execute them, the coach was adamant. Apparently, Larionchikov already then realized what hidden talent Yashin.

After serving in the army, the sports biography of Lev Yashin continued and began to gain momentum. Once, participating in some competition, the future football celebrity was noticed by the trainer AI Chernyshov, who was engaged in training the youth team "Dynamo". It was to this team that Yashin dreamed to come from childhood, so when Chernyshev suggested that he try his hand at Dynamo, Lev gladly agreed.

However, the first friendly match between Dynamo and Tractor from Stalingrad was rather unsuccessful for Yashin. He missed the ball into the goal, sent by the goalkeeper of the opposing team.

In the following, there were again failures. So, in 1950 the competition, held for the championship of the country, again became unsuccessful for the young athlete. And just like in the situation with the Stalingrad "Tractor", Yashin missed the goal because of a collision with his midfielder. Taking advantage of this, the opponents hit and scored the ball into the goal.

These defeats seriously affected Yashin - from 1950 to 1952 he sat on the bench and almost did not appear on the field.

Career in hockey

Suspended in this way from his favorite game, Yashin began to practice ice hockey. And he achieved a lot in this sport. So, he won the title of master of sports, and also received silver and bronze as part of the team. Once his hockey team even won the USSR Cup.

In 1962, after a short absence due to a disastrous game in Chile, Lev Ivanovich returned to football. This lack of sports did not make itself felt, Yashin was still just as good. In 1963, he played in twenty-seven matches, in which he missed only six goals. And again he achieved for the "Dynamo" victory in the championship of the USSR. The matches of Lev Yashin were all the same spectacular.

The sporting role of Lev Yashin and his character certainly helped. As friends of Yashin and a colleague in sports told, he was very calm, had an excellent restraint. Another ability of Lev Yashin was the ability to convey this calmness and confidence to other team members. His professional intuition actively helped the football player to determine what would be the impact of the opponent.

We can say that the very first Soviet football player began to use the throw-in technique on someone else's half of the field in order to quickly attack his team. Very closely, he interacted with the defenders in the game. Before the matches, they carefully studied the tactics and strategy of the opponent's game, this allowed him to determine his behavior on the field.

As B. Charlton, the captain of the English team said about him: "Yashin during his game became not just a goalkeeper, but an active fielder".
