Soviet actor Filippov Sergey Nikolaevich: biography and creativity

Throughout the Soviet Union, there was no man who did not know the People's Artist of the RSFSR Sergei Nikolaevich Filippov, an unrivaled master of the episode. His life path is a manifestation of the amazing trend of those years: the brighter the actor on the screen, the sader his fate. What is known today about the legend of Soviet cinema?

Origins

Saratov, a wonderful city on the Volga, honors many of its fellow countrymen. One of them is Sergey Nikolaevich Filippov. The years of his life in his native land (11.06.1912 - 1929) coincided with childhood and adolescence. All the rest of the time he will spend in Leningrad, except for the evacuation period during the war. His parents were simple representatives of the working class. Father Nikolai Georgievich worked as a mechanic, mother Evdokia Terentevna - dressmaker. Grandfather and father were amazing strong men, from whom he inherited his broad palms. These amazing hands will become an additional paint in those roles that Filippov will be able to play in the cinema and on the stage.

As a child, the young man did not differ in exemplary behavior and after the experiment at the chemistry class was expelled from school. He tried himself as a pupil of a baker, cabinetmaker, but he did not stay long. In 1927, his parents divorced because of his father's craving for alcohol, and his stepfather, a stern red commissar, appeared in the house. Having taken a great interest in dances, the young man decided to go to Moscow.

Way to the ballet

Late at the entrance examinations in Moscow, on the advice of the admission committee Filippov Sergey Nikolayevich went to the choreographic school in Leningrad. In this place, the opinions of biographers differ. According to one version, he goes to the school A. Ya. Vaganova, but after several skirmishes with teachers, he is expelled. On the other hand, he never studied there, being late for the reception, so he immediately went to the variety circus technical school, completing his studies in 1933.

Professional career began with the Kirov Theater, where he took part in several ballet productions. Already at the 4th performance he felt bad, after which the doctors ascertained the presence of congenital heart disease. This forced the actor to leave the ballet, but his plastic will be visible in every role in the future. Lezginka, performed by the lecturer in E. Ryazanov's film "Carnival Night" is not an ordinary parody dance, it is a real professional performance with a necessary amount of humor and irony.

Comedy Theater

Entering the theater-studio, for several years the actor performed parodies on concert stages. The audience appreciated his comic gift, and one day he noticed N. P. Akimov, appointed head of the Leningrad Comedy Theater. He was impressed by the factual appearance, which Filippov Sergey Nikolaevich possessed (photo is presented in the article). It can be called anti-glamorous: elongated face, long nose, always gloomy expression. He spoke absolutely ridiculous things, remaining serious in appearance. At the same time, his lanky figure with big arms and legs (wore 47th shoe size) was extremely mobile and unusually plastic.

Nikolai Pavlovich invited an actor who has no dramatic education to his theater, and from 1935 for 30 years he appeared on the stage in small roles. But his images were so vivid that the whole of theatrical Leningrad was interested in whether the actor was busy in the next play. S. Filippov often missed rehearsals, was repeatedly seen drinking alcohol, but the director forgave him all for the amazing talent to cause laughter in the hall by his appearance.

He will not forgive one day, in 1965, when from behind the scenes he will break the play. And will not come to explain later time, being already in demand movie actor, who knew the taste of glory. And three years later N. P. Akimov will leave his life, which will make return to the theater for S. Filippov impossible.

The first film

Since 1937, the actor was invited to the cinema. These were small episodes, which can be considered as tests for a beginner artist. They were successful. "For the Soviet Motherland" was the first film in which a new name appeared in the credits, - Filippov Sergey Nikolaevich. The filmography of the artist has 101 films, although in his debut works he had so tight that the career in the movie could not take place. In the first role, he needed skill and dexterity. He ran across the creek over the log and after the shot the Red Army soldier fell into the icy water. It took several takes. After each actor had to rub with alcohol, so he did not get sick.

Then there were "Volochaevskie days", "Member of the Government", "Yakov Sverdlov", where S. Filippov had to play scoundrels and scoundrels. Before the war, he was fortunate enough to make his debut in the comedy "The Adventures of Korzinkina", which really opened up a new facet of his talent in the cinema.

Family actor

First time Filippov Sergey Nikolaevich married in 1932 on Gorinovich Alevtina Ivanovna, with whom he studied at the technical school. She was a ballerina, but left the profession after the birth in 1938 of the son of Yuri. The actor became more and more popular, which was expressed in constant feasts and drinks. In addition, he liked actresses, with whom he started numerous novels. After he began to disappear from the house, despite the birth of the child, Alevtina Ivanovna just put him out the door. S. Filippov was practically on the street, as the family lived in the mother-in-law's apartment. The theater allocated him a room where he lived after 10 years of marriage.

During the war years after a difficult period of blockade the artists were sent to evacuation, where S. Filippov took his family. According to the memoirs of Yuri's son, Alevtina Ivanovna loved her husband very much, and the marriage could have been restored, but Sergei Nikolaevich did not show proper perseverance. In the postwar years, he and his comrades will have to live in Astoria, where the theater management will shoot the numbers, as the housing was destroyed as a result of the bombing. In the restaurant of the hotel he will get acquainted with the children's writer Antonina Golubeva, with whom she will live the rest of her life. This union was considered by many to be strange, for a woman was 13 years older than him and did not differ in beauty and economy. Nevertheless, they lived 42 years, having married officially in 1957.

The popularity of the 50's and the films of E. Ryazanov

In the post-war period, along with the famous actors: P. Aleinikov, B. Kadochnikov, N. Kryuchkov, B. Andreev - a new star also appeared, Filippov Sergey Nikolaevich, whose roles in comedy films brought him deafening success. "Tamer tamer" (Kazimir Almazov), "Spare player" (jealous husband), "Twelfth Night" (Fabian) made him unusually popular with the audience. But the first truly star role was the image of the lecturer in the debut picture of E. Ryazanov "Carnival Night" (1956).

The young director tried 12 actors who did not like him, or I. Pyryev, personally supervising the filming process. Finally, someone suggested to try S. Filippov, which was a real success for the film. However, on the filming of the scene of the lecture "Is there life on Mars?" The artist appeared to be a substitute and could not cope with the role. E. Ryazanov has already begun to think about replacing, but a couple of days absolutely sober S. Filippov brilliantly played the episode, making a significant part of it improvisation.

In the next film by E. Ryazanov "Girl without an address" the role of Komarinsky is written specially for Sergei Nikolayevich, who was magnificent in a duet with Zoya Fedorova (Masik and Kusik). In 1961, the actor and director collaborated in the film "How Robinson was created," after which their paths parted. So much so that despite the wishes of the Italians to see Filippov in the joint film, E. Ryazanov expressed his categorical disagreement.

Cooperation with L. Gayday

In 1965, S. Filippov was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This was preceded by prolonged headaches, loss of work in the theater. The main source of his income is touring, where the audience accepts the actor with great love. In addition, he uses every opportunity to do a movie. The real success for him is the collaboration with the director L. Gayday, who offers the role of Kisa Vorobyaninov in the comedy "The Twelve Chairs" (1971). Despite the poor state of health, Filippov Sergey Nikolaevich is happy to plunge into the work. Before completing the shoot, he agrees to an operation to remove the tumor, which is carried out with trepanation of the skull. From repeated surgery with the insertion of the metal plate, he refuses, and remaining until the end of days without the parietal bone.

The role of Kisa becomes almost the only major role in the career of S. Filippov, maximally revealing his talent. L. Gaidai so appreciated the talent of S. Filippov that in his 1989 film "Private Detective" specifically found a small job for that, although Sergey Nikolaevich almost did not act. It will be the final point in the career of an outstanding artist.

Dream of a dramatic role

The Soviet actor Filippov Sergey Nikolayevich was shot by many directors, but a long creative union associated him with Nadezhda Kosheverova. His participation in the episode of the film "Arinka" (1939) was the beginning of their long cooperation. In joint work, he revealed himself in a new role, playing a touching and passionately enamored man. In their filmography, such films as "Tiger Tamer", "Honeymoon", "Snow Maiden", "Shadow". In 1987, she invited him to "The Tale of a Loving Painter". But even these roles did not really become what the actor wanted. Filippov Sergey Nikolaevich, satiated with glory, where every dubious citizen could shout at him anything, mixing screen images with a real person, dreamed of real dramatic roles.

In the 70's, he almost asked to "Blockade" against M. Ershov, to play VM Gubarev. He himself went through the famine and suffering of war, which he managed to brilliantly transmit through his hero. This shows what great potential was laid in the outstanding actor of the Soviet era. In 1988, he was removed from V. Bortko in "The Heart of a Dog," but he already had a hard time working, memorizing the text, keeping himself in shape. Close people say that he shared how he cried when he learned that the main role in the film "When the Trees were Big" was not his, but Nikulin's. This could change his whole creative destiny.

Leaving a life

Filipov Sergey Nikolaevich met his last days in poverty and loneliness. The former wife and son emigrated to the United States. This step, already adult Yuri forgiven, he could not and did not respond to his letters, leaving them unopened. After the death of Antonina Golubeva in 1989, he closed up and rarely left the house. The actor died in April 1990 from oncology. Relatives of Golubeva did not inform his son, and he found out about it too late. Therefore, S. Filippov was buried with funds raised by his colleagues. Thus the life of the great Soviet actor ended.
