The InternetSpam

Warning - Spam!

The Internet is one of the most significant achievements of mankind in the modern world, giving every user a lot of opportunities. Information, which is today one of the most important values, is accumulating in the Global Network at a staggering pace, which makes it possible for all to know without exception any aspects that accompany reality, to gather previously unavailable information, to study a lot of interesting and necessary work in daily activities, Pleasure from entertainment opportunities and much more - the list can be continued indefinitely. A confirmation of the fact that modern people can no longer do without the Internet is not only its huge popularity, but also the incessant growth of the Global Network, which has already spread throughout the globe.

However, like all human activities, in addition to the remarkable opportunities provided to users, the Internet is also characterized by a mass of negative moments, represented by the receipt of inauthentic information, fraud, loss of confidential data, finally, Internet addiction, and many other troubles that trap the user on the vastness of the Global Network . Today, let's talk about such a phenomenon as spam, annoying a huge mass of users every day.

Spam is the sending of information that carries intrusive advertising or other data to persons who have not expressed the desire to receive this information. The common meaning of the term "spam" is used in the case of e-mail messages. In recent years, spam has become a broader concept - spammers have taken virtually all the channels for obtaining information via the Internet, including instant messaging services, message boards, forums, etc. Moreover, spam has already gone beyond the scope of the Global Network, for example, it's no surprise to anyone today that the information that is not requested comes through SMS. To fully understand the problem, it is enough to cite the only fact: as of 2011, the share of spam in mail traffic around the world is about 80%.

Depending on the purposes of the persons spreading spam, it is divided into many kinds. They are represented by advertising of legal goods; Advertising products distributed illegally; Anti-advertising; Information designed to lure money from the recipient (scammers use a variety of methods - "Nigerian letters", phishing, etc.); The spread of viruses; Dissemination of information from another person with a view to provoking a negative attitude towards him; Collection of e-mail addresses and many other kinds.

Are there ways to guarantee 100% protection of the user from receiving spam messages? Unfortunately, to date, completely to protect themselves from spammers, there is no possibility. Of course, leading companies that produce antivirus software, email services, instant messaging clients and many other Internet business people who use honest methods of competition are constantly developing various systems that prevent users from entering questionable messages. Today, even free e-mail services offer a function called anti-spam checking, instant messaging services implement various antispam agents that ask the user to enter anti-spam questions that will be asked to unauthorized users, etc. etc. At the same time, none of the systems is characterized by 100% efficiency - how quickly the methods of combating spam are introduced, so quickly the individuals who disseminate it find ways to bypass existing barriers. Of course, to refuse protection should not be, otherwise work on the Internet will turn into an endless allocation of the necessary and useful from the "mountain" of digital "garbage", but also to hope that spammers do not get to you, it's also not worth it.
