Filevskaya line of the Moscow metro

For a long time the Filevskaya Line was the main transport artery of the west of the capital. However, a few years ago, part of it was given to the Arbat-Pokrovskaya branch, continued to the north-west. So is there a need for the development of the ground Filev line?

History of construction

This branch has the fourth number and a beautiful blue color. Almost all of it is shallow or entirely terrestrial. Initially, it was closely connected with the Arbat-Pokrovskaya branch, but after the opening of the station "Kursk" this radius became completely independent.

It was the stations of the Filevskaya Line that suffered most during the Great Patriotic War. The reason for this was a shallow laying. As a result, most of the stations did not tolerate enemy air strikes. Thus, part of the Arbatskaya-Smolenskaya (Filevskaya Line) distillery was destroyed, and the metro bridge across the Moscow River was seriously damaged. Not surprisingly, immediately after the war, the construction of a deep-lying radius began, duplicating the old one, and the remaining tunnels began to be used for the storage of wagons.

However, in 1955 it was decided to restore traffic on this branch, and also to extend it further to the west. Filevskaya received a second life. In the future, it also played a role in the construction of the infrastructure of the business center on the banks of the Moskva River. In order to increase the speed and reduce the cost of the project, the mini-branch of the metro, originating from the Kievskaya station of the Filevskaya Line, was brought to this area. So it's too early to dump this line.

Current state

Now the Filevskaya line is a total of 13 stations on two sites. One of them, connecting at both ends in Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, goes west - to Kuntsevo and Fili. The other one, which starts from the metro station "Kievskaya" (Filevskaya line), is a small area, exciting business center "Moscow City". This radius is extremely necessary, since it involves an important area in the transport network. In the future, it is planned that this "appendix" will be included in the new branch, so that the availability of the business center will be even higher.

Some parts of the line in question are in emergency condition and in need of urgent repairs, but while the metropolitan authorities manage half measures and are discussing a possible complete closure of the branch for major repairs.

Stations

In the context of the Moscow metro, Filevskaya pale blue branch is considered rather short. She only has 13 stations for two radii:

  • "Alexander Garden". Has transitions to the "Lenin Library" and "Arbatskaya", and through one of them also to "Borovitskaya." This largest interchange node is located in the heart of the capital and receives hundreds of thousands of passengers every day. In the immediate vicinity of the station are the Kremlin, Red and Manezhnaya Square.
  • "Arbatskaya" (Filevskaya line). One of the most unclaimed stations (slightly more than 12 thousand people a day), since most passengers prefer the neighboring branch, which has convenient transitions. The ground vestibule - one of the symbols of the metro - has the shape of a five-pointed star. It is located in the area of the beginning of the Old and New Arbat.
  • "Smolenskaya." It is located almost closely with the nuclear submarine of the same name. Located in the intersection of the Arbat and the Garden Ring.
  • Station "Kiev" Filevskaya line. It is located in the area of the railway station with the same name, it has a transition to the Koltsevo and Arbat-Pokrovskaya branches. From here, trains run in two directions - to the west in Kuntsevo and to MIBC "Moscow City".
  • "Exhibition". It is located between the business part of the city and "Expocenter". In the future, after the construction of the Third Transfer Circuit, there will be a transfer to the "Business Center" station.
  • "International". It is located in the central core of the Moscow-City MIBC and, as planned, will eventually become part of a large interchange node.
  • "Student". It is located in the Kiev street, at the moment it is practically cut off from the ground network of public transport.
  • "Kutuzovskaya." It is under the eponymous prospectus, on which it is named.
  • "Fili". It is located near Bagrationovsky Passage. The platform is located at the junction of the tunnel and the ground section.
  • "Bagrationovskaya". In the immediate vicinity of the station are popular shopping centers "Gorbushka" and "Gorbushkin Dvor".
  • "Filevsky Park". Located in the area of Minsk street, is named for a nearby green massif.
  • "Pioneer". It is located on the site of the old village of Mazilovo, along which they wanted to name it in the project.
  • "Kuntsevskaya". The final station with the transition to the Arbat-Pokrovskaya branch. Located in the Rublevskoe highway.

Duplication of submarines

Not only the guests of the capital, but also the Muscovites themselves are often confused, because the Filevskaya and Arbat-Pokrovskaya branches partially duplicate each other not only in the direction, but also in the name of the stations. Going out not on the one, you can get lost, although the ground vestibules are usually too close to each other.

It may seem that the Filev line is not needed at all, however (although this is not very loaded compared to some other branches), it still serves a noticeable passenger flow, and therefore can not be closed permanently.

Reconstruction

Since 2014, the management of the subway began talking about the need for urgent repairs of some sections of the branch. Since some stations of the Filevskaya Line have a land location, they suffer greatly from temperature drops, precipitation and other factors. At the moment, some parts are in a very bad condition, so there are even plans to temporarily close the entire line (the radius of Kievskaya-Kuntsevskaya) for the purpose of capital repairs. True, this may turn into a transport accident in the west of Moscow, so that such a variant will be resorted to only as a last resort.

Development prospects

Extension of the branch to the east of the capital is impossible, and there is no special need for this, according to the authorities. Nevertheless, the Filevskaya line has not yet exhausted its possibilities.

Simultaneously with the problem of large-scale repairs (with the closure of stations or without similar measures), the change in the trajectory of the entire branch is also discussed. Perhaps Filevskaya will become an important part of the Solntsevsky radius or the Third interchange circuit.
