Solution of glucose

Dextrose takes an active part in the most diverse metabolic processes in the body. At the same time, there is a multifaceted impact on tissues and organs: oxidation-reduction reactions and processes become more active and more intense, liver function improves. The use of an aqueous solution of dextrose replenishes the water deficiency, replenishing the loss of fluid.

When the drug "glucose solution" is received in the tissue, its gradual phosphorylation occurs. The compound is converted to glucose-6-phosphate. The latter takes a direct part in many stages of metabolic processes in the human body. Isotonic solution of dextrose stimulates the acceleration of metabolic processes, provides a detoxification action, while glucose supplies a lot of nutrients to the body, replenishing energy losses.

Indications for use

The preparation "Glucose solution", which displays the turn of the genitourinary system, has the following indications for use:

- sudden decrease in the level of sugar (hypoglycemia);

- a variety of infectious diseases, suppressing immunity and frustrating metabolism;

Decompensation processes;

- pathology of the liver;

- swelling of the lungs;

- increased bleeding (various hemorrhagic diathesis) and after heavy blood loss;

- state of shock;

- the state of collapse (change (fall) in blood pressure).

In addition, the "Glucose Solution" is prescribed to balance the balance when using cardiac glycosides, as well as to replenish fluid loss.

Contraindications for use are:

- diabetes mellitus;

- hyperglycemia;

- Hyperhydration;

- hyperosmolar coma;

- postoperative changes in glucose utilization;

- Hyperlactacidemia.

Under careful supervision of the doctor and with great care the drug is prescribed for such diseases as pulmonary edema, severe heart failure, anuria, oliguria, hyponatremia.

Glucose solution medication: instructions for use and dosage

The drug has a liquid form. The "Glucose Solution" solution 5% should be administered intravenously through the use of droppers with a maximum speed of up to 150 cap / min. The largest dose of substance per day for adults is 2000 ml. For a solution of 10%, use a dropper at a rate of up to 60 cap / min with an identical maximum daily dose of the drug. 40 glucose solution is injected into the body at a rate of up to 30 cap / min (or 1.5 ml / kg / h).

The biggest dose of the drug for adults is 250 ml per day. Dosage is selected by physicians depending on the revealed nature of the metabolism. For example, a dose of 250-450 g / day for a normal type of metabolism can be reduced to 200-300 g for people with reduced metabolism.

When using glucose in medical practice and calculating its dosage, it is necessary to take into account the permissible amount of liquid injected into the body - 100-165 ml / kg / day for children, whose mass does not exceed 10 g, and also 45-100 ml / kg / day for children weighing Up to 40 kg.

The use of glucose on the background of diabetes is undesirable. Treatment is carried out under the constant control of the content of this substance in the blood and urine.

The drug "Glucose solution": side effects

At the site of injection of glucose, the development of thrombophlebitis is possible. Side effects include fever, hyperglycemia, hypervolemia, acute left ventricular failure. Often there is a general deterioration in the state of the human body.

Special Recommendations

Introduction of SC 4-5 ED of insulin will provide a more complete and effective perception of glucose by the body. Insulin should be used in the calculation of 1 unit for 5 g of dextrose. The product should be used carefully with other drugs. Without the appointment of a specialist, the drug should not be used in the treatment of a patient.
