Strategic management as the basis of enterprise competitiveness

Management, whatever it is, is a process that is necessary to achieve the goals. Usually it includes several stages: setting goals and planning work, organizing it, identifying and creating motivation, control. Strategic management is a process that relies on the human factor as the foundation for an enterprise or organization. It is focused primarily on market requests (or in other words consumers) and allows you to flexibly and quickly make the changes necessary to work in accordance with demand. It is strategic management that allows the enterprise to function normally under constantly changing conditions, to be competitive and to bring a stable profit. Unlike the operational one, this kind of management allows not only to plan the work of the organization for a long time, but also to make it as successful as possible.

Strategic management of the organization. Subjects and content

In order for the enterprise to be competitive and profitable in constantly changing conditions, external influences must be taken into account. This is possible only if the strategic management unites all labor, organizational and entrepreneurial strategies into a single whole. It is the unification of the line of conduct in all these spheres that allows timely and optimal response to external factors and predict their influence on production. Based on this, one can understand what exactly strategic management differs from all the others, which is its main subject. It:

  • Problems that depend on external, uncontrolled factors;
  • Problems directly related to the ultimate (or general) goals of the organization;
  • Problems and solutions, allowing to reconstruct the structure of the organization in accordance with the changes that are taking place.

Actually, the strategic management can be called when it clearly answers only three fundamental questions:

  1. What is the position of the company at the moment?
  2. How it should be through the specified term (1 month, 1 year, etc.)?
  3. What do you need to do in order to reach the specified position at the specified time?

Strategic management of the enterprise. Functions and tasks

To maintain the competitiveness and profitability of the enterprise at any point in time, it is necessary that the planning is long-term and perform the following functions:

  • Clearly planned not only the final results, but also the use of certain strategies;
  • Correctly organized all activities aimed at implementing plans;

  • Correctly motivated the activities of employees;
  • Used current methods of control.

The specialists formulated the tasks that strategic management should solve:

  • Main: survival in any conditions in the long term;
  • Timely adaptation to constantly changing external conditions;
  • Search for new opportunities that contribute to competitiveness;
  • Flexibility and readiness for any changes;
  • Orientation to the human factor - the foundation of all conceived.
