Seasoning for mulled wine. Preparation of mulled wine at home

A great winter drink that warms well and helps to get rid of colds and infections is home made mulled wine. It is traditionally cooked in northern countries with a harsh climate and long winters. Mulled wine is served at the festive table for Christmas, it is even drunk in the fresh air to keep warm. It is great for a feast in the circle of friends in a gloomy cloudy evening. A great role is played by seasoning for mulled wine, which gives it an unusual taste. This is ginger, spices and citrus fruits.

The origin of the drink

This drink has a long history. The tradition of using warmed wine came from China. But in this country they did not add fruit and spices. The recipe was perfected in Greece, adding to the wine nutmeg, cardamom, honey and various spices. Gradually, the sailors contributed to the spread of this drink, and it is well established in countries with a cold climate. Hot wine restores blood circulation and supports the body after the infection. Mulled wine has a good effect on the work of the stomach and normalizes the intestinal flora.

Cooking rules

Preparing mulled wine requires certain rules. You can, of course, show some imagination, but do not forget the basic dogma. Seasoning for mulled wine can be any, and wine is better to choose a dry (red or white). To white wine, add cinnamon and apples. Pouring water into the mulled wine, do it neatly, along the edge of the container. It is strictly forbidden to boil this drink. The maximum temperature should reach 70 degrees. As soon as the formed foam is removed, the mulled wine should be removed from the fire. Use it immediately after preparation. Glasses for a drink are better to warm.

Classic Recipe

There are many cooking options. They depend on what wines are used, and what seasoning for mulled wine is added. But there is a classic recipe that is the basis. For cooking we take a bottle of red table wine (0.75 liters), a few cloves, a large spoonful of sugar, a third of a glass of water, a nutmeg (to taste). If desired, you can add lemon or its peel, orange, any fruit. Any seasoning for mulled wine can be used. The composition of the drink is changed at its discretion. To enhance the taste, some add a little strong liquor. Spread the nutmeg and cloves in a Turk and pour water. Bring to a boil and cook for about a minute. Then let the broth brew. Pour the wine into a saucepan and heat it. After that, add a decoction of spices and a spoonful of sugar. Remove hot mulled wine from fire and pour into glasses.

Mulled wine with orange

Carnation is the main seasoning for mulled wine. But you can add any ingredients. Very good for this drink fruit, which gives it unusual flavor notes. For cooking, take half an orange, half a liter of red wine, half an apple, a few (10-12 pieces) of carnations, a large spoonful of honey, a stick of cinnamon and 5 peas of sweet pepper. Fruit cut into slices and put into a saucepan. Fill them with wine and add spices and honey. Put the container on the stove and turn on the small fire. Warm up the drink, stirring it constantly so that the honey dissolves. Mulled wine is not boiled, otherwise it will lose all its useful properties. Turn off the fire and let the drink brew. After 10 minutes, pour it into glasses.

Soft drink

To prepare in this case, we will use grape juice. Not all, due to various circumstances, can use beverages that contain alcohol. This recipe is for them. Take a liter of juice (grape, but you can replace apple), three spoons of jam (currant or blueberry), several nails and two cinnamon sticks. Pour the juice into a saucepan, preheat it, but do not boil it. Then put all the spices and jam, stir and turn off the fire. We give the drink to stand for half an hour.

Mulled wine with cardamom and ginger

Cardamom is also an excellent seasoning for mulled wine. The composition of the drink can be supplemented with ginger. This will give it a great taste and aroma. To prepare, you need a liter of red wine, a small spoon of grated ginger, 1-2 spoons of honey, three cloves, a cinnamon stick and several cardamom seeds. Wine poured into a pan and add all the spices. Cardamom can be slightly crushed in a mortar. Warm up the drink and turn off the fire. We give the mulled wine to brew and pour it into glasses.

Mulled wine with tea

This drink will turn out to be less strong, but very tasty. And you need a glass of strong tea, half a liter of wine (red), two sprouts of buckwheat, two spoons of ground cinnamon, a small spoon of ginger, 5 cloves and pepper fragrant, one orange, half a lemon, 50 grams of brown sugar and several cardamom seeds . The amount of spices can be changed at your discretion. Filtered tea poured into a saucepan and add all the spices. Bring the mixture to a boil and weigh it for about 10 minutes. Then add the sliced fruit, and a minute later pour in the wine. Mulled wine does not boil, but only warm up. We pour out the drink by glasses and serve them.
