Sea-buckthorn oil: a recipe for a medicinal product

You can get rid of moisture on the fruits by placing them for a short time in an oven with a temperature of about 60 degrees. In case the berries are frozen, they must first be left for a while in the refrigerator. Then it is required to bring the fruits to the desired state at room temperature. In any case, they should be dry.

Next, the berries must be grinded with a meat grinder, a coffee grinder or a wooden pestle. The smaller they are processed, the more fluid will be produced. The resulting mixture should be placed in a glassware, carefully tamped, pour with vegetable oil (any), pre-heated to 40 - 50º C, and tightly cork. Place the container in a dark place and leave it for a week, with daily shaking.

After the necessary period of time, the fruit should be squeezed out, and the resulting liquid strain. Of the total amount of ingredients, about 10 - 15% of the oil can be isolated.

Pure and dried fruits should be crushed, and the resulting juice should be poured into a glass container, tightly closed and left in a darkened cool place for 4 to 5 days. At this time, the sea-buckthorn cake left after pressing the liquid should be dried with an oven or in a dry ventilated room.

After a few days, the juice in the container should be divided into two layers: the upper one, which is denser in consistency, and the lower one - transparent and liquid. The top layer should be carefully removed and dried, mixed with the oil cake. The container should again be left for some time to settle. The procedure for removing the top layer should be repeated again.

The resulting cake should be placed in enameled dishes, pour vegetable oil in a ratio of 1: 2 and soak in the oven for about half an hour at 60? C. Then pass the mixture through the juicer.

Thus, it is possible to obtain oil from sea-buckthorn. The recipe for its preparation appeared a long time ago and has been tested many times.
