School apron: anachronism or necessity?

Many parents who grew up in the Soviet Union believe that the school uniform is simply necessary. And let it not be school dresses with an apron, as was customary in their childhood, but a decent trouser suit for boys, a jacket with a skirt for girls must be mandatory. This helps in the fight against ultra-short skirts and transparent tight-fitting sweaters for girls, T-shirts with indecent inscriptions and shorts for guys that teenagers consider quite normal to put on an educational institution.

On the other hand, it helps to at least slightly erase the differences in the material well-being of parents. Often children who have not yet earned a penny like to brag about the high cost of things they have purchased. Of course, many people like to talk about the harm of leveling for children, but in most cases it is only discontent of the younger generation, who always wear jeans and T-shirts and do not even know what a school apron looks like.

The long-term history testifies to the expediency of introducing uniform suits for each educational institution. After all, if you remember, 100 years ago in tsarist Russia the form was a source of pride, both for boys and girls. Future men wore military style clothes , and small ladies made dark dresses that decorated the school apron during the holidays.

Then, with the change of power for a few years, the form disappeared from schools, but the need to introduce it began to be spoken at once, as the time of upheavals and experiments passed, and life in the country began to improve. Again, there were introduced costumes for boys and dresses for girls, to which the school apron invariably walked. On ordinary days it was black, and on holidays it was white. In these times, the school authorities strictly followed the length of the dresses, aprons, the presence of collars and cuffs. During the existence of the Soviet Union, clothing for students has been modified several times, changing the cut of jackets, jackets, skirts.

But as soon as the Union broke up, the form was canceled. A few years later, high school students spent a lot of time and energy to find a Soviet dress and a white school apron to him and put them on their last call. In many cities, this has become a tradition, and even now girls, who know about the form only from history books, dress up on it on their last day at school.

Those who can not find the right size, often sew it to order. After all, in this case, you can choose the length yourself, slightly change the style of the dress, choose the fabric from which the school apron will be sewn. Some needlewomen even crochet them.

In many developed countries it is considered necessary to introduce at least some leveling element in educational institutions. The most striking example is the United Kingdom and its former colonies: the countries of South Africa, India, Singapore, Australia, Ireland. Also popular in Japan and Syria. In the USA and Canada, only private schools usually sew the same clothes , in many ordinary general schools there is no uniform form, but a strict dress code has been introduced.
