Opera and Ballet Theater (Saransk): history, repertoire, artists

The Opera and Ballet Theater (Saransk) began its creative career in the first half of the 20th century. He underwent several reorganizations: he was an opera, then a musical-dramatic, then a musical comedy. Today it is called "Musical Theater named after I. Yaushev".

History

The Musical Theater was opened in 1935. He immediately received the status of state. The first performance of the theater was the operetta "The Beggar Student" by K. Miller. For the years of its existence the collective changed its status several times and, accordingly, the name. The repertoire has also changed.

At first the theater was called the "Musical Comedy". On his stage were only operettas. From 1937 to 1948 it was the Opera and Ballet Theater. Saransk then invited artists from different cities to the troupe. They were vocalists who had a musical education, experience and could work in different genres. Particular attention was attracted to young artists from Mordovia. One of the leading soloists of that time was I. Yushev.

In 1948, the Opera and Ballet Theater (Saransk) became musical and dramatic. A new life began in 1992. Since then, the theater is called musical, and its repertoire includes performances of various genres and concerts.

The reorganized collective attracted the interest of the public immediately. The first performance of the theater, working in a new status, was Georges Bizet's opera Carmen. Then the troupe was still small, but the artists managed to perform a variety of performances. Even complicated operas by such composers as J. Rossini, J. Verdi, R. Leoncavallo and S. Gounod were held here.

The name of the artist Ilarion Yaushev was added to the theater in 1994. In 2010 the collective celebrated its 75th anniversary. In honor of this celebration, the audience was shown a concert called "The Age of Brotherhood was presented to us".

On the occasion of the jubilee, the authorities of the city made the theater a very expensive, important and, you can say, royal gift - a new building. It is very beautiful, with beautiful modern technical equipment. The area of the scene in this room is 400 square meters. The hall is designed for 714 spectators. It has great acoustics. Thanks to this, the theater was able to expand its repertoire and begin to delight the viewer with large-scale productions. And also now it is possible to supplement the performances with various special effects. In addition, the new stage allows not only to show performances, but also to hold concerts and various festivals.

On the occasion of the opening of a new stage and housewarming, the theater hosted the ceremonial events. Not only artists of the theater, but also invited celebrities took part in them.
