Samad Vurgun: biography and creativity

Our today's hero is Samad Vurgun. His biography will be examined in detail later. It is about the Azerbaijani Soviet poet, playwright and public figure. He was the first to receive the title People's in his republic. He is also an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR. He became a laureate of two Stalin prizes of the second degree. Consisted in the CPSU (b).

Biography

The Soviet poet Samed Vurgun was born in 1906 in the Kazakh district, the village of Yukhary Salahli. When our hero was 6 years old, his mother died. The boy remained in the care of Aisha-khanum's grandmother and father. After the future poet graduated from the Zemstvo school in 1918, the family moved to Kazakh. There our hero, along with Mehtikhan Vekilov, his elder brother, entered the Kazakh teacher's seminary. After a while, my father leaves the life. It happened in 1922. A year later my grandmother died. Thus, the care for our hero, as well as his brother, went to Khangizi Vekilova - their cousin.

The first poem of the poet "Appeal to the Youth" was published in the Tiflis newspaper under the title "Yeni Fikir" in 1925. Our hero was a teacher of literature in one of Kazakh village schools. For two years he studied at Moscow University. It was during the period from 1929 to 1930. After that, our hero continued his studies and became a student of the Pedagogical Institute. Then he attended a similar university in Azerbaijan. In 1945 he was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR. He became a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from the second to the fourth convocation. The poet passed away in 1956, on May 27. Our hero is buried in Baku.

Creation

Samad Vurgun noted that his main creative task is the disclosure of the poetry of the surrounding reality. The first publication of our hero appeared in 1925 on the pages of the newspaper Novaya mysl. A poem titled "Appeal to the Youth" was written in connection with the end of the seminary. The first book of our hero was published in 1930. It was called "The Oath of the Poet".

A special role in the creativity of this author was played by the Great Patriotic War. During this period the poet created more than sixty poems, as well as several poems, among them the work "Baku dastan". During this period, the glory of our hero as a poet grows. Leaflets on which the work "Partisans of Ukraine" was written were dropped from the plane into local forests to support the detachments. In 1943, in America, as part of the contest for the best anti-war poem, the poet's work entitled "Mother's Farewell" was highly appreciated. This work among the twenty best in world poetry was published in New York, and after widespread among the military. Soon, on the initiative of our hero, the Fizuli Intelligentsia House was established in Baku. It hosted military events and meetings with war veterans.

Poems

The poet Samed Vurgun in 1928 began work on his first work in this genre. It was called the "Komsomol poem". In 1932 the work "Event" was published. In 1933 there appeared poems "Muradkhan", "Humar", "Lokbatan", "Rural morning". In 1934 the work "Bench of Death" was published. In 1935 the poems "Bitter memories", "Twenty-six", "The Hangman", "The lost love" are published. In 1936, our hero wrote the work "Riot". In 1937, the word "collective farmer Basti" was published. The poem "Baku Dastan" is published in 1944.

Plays

Samad Vurgun in 1937 published the work "Vagif". It reproduces the tragic fate of Moll Panah Vagif. In 1939, the play "Khanlar" appeared. It is dedicated to the life of a revolutionary named Khanlar Safaraliyev. In 1941, the work "Farhad and Shirin" was published - a verse drama based on Nizami's poem. In 1945, the work "Man" was published.

Translations

Samad Vurgun in 1936 translates the novel "Eugene Onegin" by Alexander Pushkin into the Azerbaijani language. For this work he was awarded a medal. Handed her Pushkin Committee. In 1936, he translated part of the poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" by Shota Rustaveli. For this work the poet received the Certificate of Honor of the Georgian SSR. In 1939, his translation of the poem "Leili and Mejnun" by Nizami Ganjavi was published. Also our hero adapted some works of Maxim Gorky. He translated a number of works Dzhambul, Ilya Chavchavadze and Taras Shevchenko.

Family and heritage

Samad Vurgun was married to Haver khanum Mirzabekova. He has three children. The first son is Yusif Samedoglu. He became the People's Writer of Azerbaijan. The second son is Vagif Samedoglu. He became a national poet of Azerbaijan. The daughter of our hero is Aibianiz Vekilov. She is a well-deserved worker of culture.

In 1961, a monument to the poet was erected in Baku. Fuad Abdurakhmanov was the sculptor. In 1975 the House-Museum of Samad Vurgun was opened in Baku. It became the first memorial dedicated to an individual person. In the house there were meetings of famous cultural figures of that period. In 1976, Rauf Hajiyev, composer, created a cantata dedicated to our hero. In 1976, in honor of him was prepared postage stamp of the USSR. In 2006, the poet's centenary was celebrated. A special postage stamp of Azerbaijan was issued for this event.

The name of our hero is the library in the city of Kiev, the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theater, the technical school in Bulgaria, the school in Dushanbe N257, the streets in Baku, Agjabadi and Moscow, the settlement in Azerbaijan. In 1943, Samad Vurgun was awarded the title of People's Poet of the Azerbaijan SSR. In 1943 he became Honored Artist. For the play called "Vagif" received the Stalin Prize of the second degree.
